Welcome to The Holy Trinity Church of England Secondary School

At The Holy Trinity Church of England Sixth Form we are committed to ensuring that you achieve the best possible academic qualifications. In addition to this we will seek to develop your skills of leadership and teamwork, enhancing your qualities of responsibility and initiative. We place a significant emphasis on developing leadership capacity: you will be a role model to younger students, with many opportunities to serve the school community by mentoring these students and taking on other duties around the school. I value enormously the contribution made by Sixth Formers to the whole school, as do the staff and younger students here.

Past students speak highly of their experience, describing it as invaluable, memorable, and formative. As a school our mission is to be a centre of excellence for learning inspired by Christian values where young people fulfil their potential. Our students come from a range of world faiths, which are openly discussed, giving a strong sense of the importance of inclusivity and of opportunities to learn from each other. We are committed to encouraging openness and respect, preparing students to be global citizens who will make a positive difference in the world

About us

Sixth Form study is a rich experience, offering you the opportunity to develop leadership skills and independence within a supportive, yet challenging environment. The pathways open to you at this juncture of your learning journey are varied and can seem winding.

The Holy Trinity Sixth Form offers you excellent teaching across a range of courses and support as you make the transition from Key Stage 4 to Key Stage 5. As Key Stage 5 is only a step on your journey, we are also keen to equip you with the tools you need to move on into further full time study, apprenticeships or the world of work.

Being part of a school, we are able to offer you unique opportunities to develop your leadership and communication skills as you take a leading role in many parts of school life. We have high expectations of our Sixth Formers, expecting them to lead by example, take on some responsibility and ensure they are able to learn independently. The rewards you reap from this type of leadership find their way into your CVs, but more than that, they help to shape the man or woman you will become.

When it comes to choosing your paths of study, you will be given an opportunity to discuss this one to one and then have follow up discussions to ensure you are choosing the most appropriate path. If you are not currently a Holy Trinity student, you will be given a chance to visit the school, meet staff and students and have a tour of our facilities. You are welcome to visit at any time, please just ring the school to book an appointment.

Sixth Form is an exciting time in any student’s school life as it is such a vital stage in the transition towards adulthood and future opportunities at University or work-based training. You can look forward to combining academic study at The Holy Trinity School with a range of enhancement activities that will make a huge contribution to your personal development.

Our Sixth Form is a fun, caring and hard-working community where every individual matters. We place great emphasis on academic achievement here but also encourage students to broaden their experiences and to involve themselves in the wider school community. Each Sixth Form student will be asked to fulfill a weekly responsibility that helps to develop communication skills and self-confidence. There are also numerous social activities in the Sixth Form that you can get involved in.

As a Christian school, our joy comes in seeing you do well and make a positive impact on the world. We hope you seriously consider us as part of that journey; and we send you our best wishes and hopes for success as you pursue the appropriate path to achieve your aspirations.

Facilities available

The Sixth Form Centre is a well-appointed suite in the midst of the school. You will have access to a study area, social area, kitchen and Seminar Room as well as a dedicated Sixth Form Office. There is an active tutor and mentoring programme delivered by tutors and supported by senior tutors and the leadership of the Sixth Form. This programme focuses on key study skills, awareness of the world and citizenship, pathways guidance, preparation for University, Apprenticeships or work and key interpersonal skills. Our pastoral support system is built on the strong foundation of our Christian ethos and aims to provide a shared sense of purpose.

Learner success

Students and staff at The Holy Trinity Church of England Sixth Form are celebrating a wonderful set of results at both A Level and BTEC Level 3. The Headteacher, Rev Chrissie Millwood, is absolutely delighted and said: “I am thrilled with this superb set of results which show the continuing success of our Sixth Form, with our very high standards being maintained for yet another year. This year more than a quarter of the results were A* or A grade or equivalent, with well over half of the grades being A* to B or equivalent.
