Welcome to Ousedale School
Ousedale School is an 11-19 mixed comprehensive academy based on two campuses, one in Newport Pagnell for 1500 students aged 11-19 and a second in Olney catering for 600 students aged 11-16. We have an absolute belief that all children can succeed and become successful learners. Ofsted visited the school in May 2012, assessing us against the new, more rigorous framework. We were delighted to be rated good with outstanding features in all categories.
In 2012 we were the top performing state secondary school in Milton Keynes and surpassed all schools in Bedfordshire at GCSE where our students achieved 77% 5+A*-C (including English and Maths). In 2013 we exceeded this record breaking the figure by a further 1%, achieving 78% 5+A-C in English and Maths. In January 2014 we received recognition from the Department for Education for consistently achieving outstanding results over the last three years and received two national awards as our students had achieved some of the best 8 GCSEs results nationally, including English and Maths; this places us in the top 100 of schools in England.
The Sixth Form has an enviable reputation locally and nationally. For the last 8 years we have been the top performing 6th Form in Milton Keynes; our results place us in the top 2% in the country for comprehensives and in 2013 the Sixth Form was ranked 6th in the country for comprehensive schools. A final endorsement of our outstanding results has come from the Schools Network for High Achieving Schools which we were invited to join last year.
Ousedale School is however much more than a high performing school. Extra-curricular activities, Duke of Edinburgh Awards and a very strong broad enrichment programme go to make Ousedale School an incredible place for students to learn. Music and Sport are particularly strong and valued very highly - we invest heavily in both areas of the curriculum. We promote a strong code of values based on mutual respect and we work hard to build a positive relationship with each child. All are encouraged to be good citizens and support the community in which they live. Uniform and a clear behaviour for learning policy, are strong features of the the school. The ethos created instils pride, a sense of belonging and ensures our students are prepared for the reponsibilities they will face in their working life.
We pride ourselves on being able to set individual learning programmes for those whose needs or personal circumstances require an alternative approach. In our recent inspection a parent of a particularly vulnerable child told the lead inspector, 'The school always looks for solutions and strategies to support my child. he would never have managed alone without their help.'
Ousedale is a Foundation mixed dual-campus comprehensive school situated in attractive grounds in Newport Pagnell and Olney, in north-east Buckinghamshire, with a partially rural catchment area. Currently there are approximately 2050 students aged 11-18 in two campuses: 1670 in Newport Pagnell; 380 in Olney. We have a Sixth Form of 375. We became a specialist Technology College in September 2005 yet pride ourselves on providing an excellent education in all areas of the curriculum.
