Welcome to Fulford School

Fulford Sixth Form is a great place to study, combining academic success with a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

As one of the best performing Sixth Forms in the country, we put our students’ welfare first and seek to ensure their success through our partnership of staff, students and parents. If you choose to join us we ask you to commit to our high expectations and aspirations; in return you will become a valued member of a tightly knit student community where we will do everything possible to help you succeed.

About us

Fulford School is a highly successful Sixth Form, rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted (May 2011) and consistently obtaining the best state school results in the region. In 2012 ‘The Independent’ rated us as the 7th best performing comprehensive sixth form in the country with 1 in 5 students obtaining at least 3 grades at A/A*.

Students benefit from excellent teaching and a wide range of extra-curricular activities. We offer a full range of enrichment activities from pilates and football to less obvious choices such as origami and ballroom dancing. This year our basketball team finished 8th in the English Schools under 18 tournament. There is also the chance to contribute to the school, local and international communities.

Students join the Sixth Form from Fulford School itself, a range of local schools, from across the UK and even abroad. Each year around a third of our Sixth Form is made up of students who did not attend Fulford School in Year 11.

The ethos of the Sixth Form and the increased personal freedom enjoyed post-16 combine the benefits of a college with the support of a school. Fulford is large enough to provide diversity and a range of challenges and opportunities but is small enough for students to be known and valued as individuals. All students receive tutorials on a regular basis from a specialist Sixth Form Tutor to monitor their progress and support them on the way to their next step, whether university, an apprenticeship or employment. The school has an exceptionally high success rate in placing students at university, at all levels of ability and ambition, including an excellent track record with Oxbridge and Russell Group universities.

A strong sense of community, felt throughout the Sixth Form, creates a real sense of participation and cohesion through a wide variety of extra curricular activities, fundraisers and social gatherings. The aim of all members of staff at Fulford School is to help students to fulfil their personal targets and potential so that they can obtain the skills and qualifications necessary for success in later life.

We believe that the sense of belonging and the support to ensure all students realise their potential makes Fulford Sixth Form a very special place to study and we look forward to sharing this with you in the years ahead. Come and find out for yourself more about the school and join our success story!
