Welcome to Charter Academy
I am delighted to welcome you to Charter Academy.
We believe in the huge potential of our students and focus relentlessly on high aspirations and high achievement. Our aim is that every student will go on to a good university or a career of their choice.
We provide excellent teaching, backed up with regular and robust assessment. We make sure we know every student well, so that we understand their needs and provide realistic and stretching goals. We are a happy school, where students can thrive in a culture defined by mutual respect and good behaviour. We see parents as our partners and work closely with families to secure the best possible outcomes for their children.
Since joining the ARK network of schools in 2009 we are extremely proud of the progress that we have made. Our results have improved year on year and are a testament to the hard work of students, staff and parents. We are extremely proud of our 2014 results where an impressive 81% of students achieved 5 A*-C grades.
We are working hard to keep improving and making sure that our students are the best they can be. This year, we are moving into a new building which will provide an environment that reflects who we are and provide an excellent learning environment.
We have an uncompromising culture of no excuses, and we insist on high standards for staff and students. At the same time, Charter Academy offers a caring and supportive learning environment that nurtures students' development into positive, well rounded members of society.
Come and visit us and see what a wonderful school Charter Academy is.
Dame Sharon Hollows
Charter Academy opened in September 2009 replacing St Lukes CE School. It is non-selective, welcoming boys and girls of all abilities. It is a school for 11-16 year olds and will open a sixth form when our new buildings are completed enabling Charter pupils to continue their studies to age 18. the academy has a Church of England ethos, welcoming students of all faiths and none. We believe in the potential of all our students and we are committed to giving them every possible opportunity to succeed. Every student should leave the academy with real choices: to continue into further and higher education or pursue the career of their choice. Our academy is shaped by a culture of inclusion and mutual respect which encourages a close working relationship between students and staff. We provide an inspirational and secure environment which recognises and celebrates success while challenging students to realise their full potential.
