Welcome to Sir William Ramsay School
In these changing times, young people who are qualified find themselves in a more advantageous position when applying for a place in Higher Education, apprenticeships or the workplace. Sir William Ramsay School Sixth Form prides itself on the support given to students through tutor time and the ‘Future Options’ Programme. During ‘Future Options’ week we work in conjunction with a number of external agencies and professionals to advise and support students with their future plans.
You will receive all the support expected of a school Sixth Form with some specific benefits:
- Mainly smaller teaching groups with individual support from specialist teachers
- Progress reports, monitoring and tracking and tutoring
- Independent wider learning opportunities
- Opportunities to take on school leadership roles and responsibilities
- A school with an excellent record of University entrance
- ‘Future Options’ week offering specific help with applying for apprenticeships, jobs and university
Students benefit from reports issued every term. In addition a support network including monitoring, tracking and academic mentoring means that staff, parents, carers and students are regularly updated on progress made within subjects. Private study is supervised by Tutors or our full-time Learning Mentor for Sixth Form. The Sixth Form Team hold regular interviews with students to set and review targets and, if necessary, tackle any underachievement issues during Academic Review Days and Parents’ Evenings.
