Welcome to Matthew Arnold School

I hope that this prospectus will give you a flavour of what it means to be a member of our happy, inclusive and ambitious school community. Our ethos is based on a culture of mutual respect and the belief that every young person can be successful. We want the best for everyone in our school. Our aim is to unlock every individual’s potential; to achieve this we offer great teaching and a range of opportunities for learning. We provide a safe, supportive yet challenging environment in which students can flourish: enjoying their learning and developing the skills they will need to be independent thinkers and successful, responsible adults.

Schools are centres of learning and our strength is to involve our students actively in their own learning. Through our curriculum we want young people to:

  • Learn how to learn
  • Learn how to manage and process information
  • Learn how to relate well to other people
  • Learn how to manage confidently a range of situations
  • Learn how to become a responsible member of society

We have high academic standards and a rich extra-curricular programme. We also recognise that to be a successful school, providing the best quality of education to all our students, we must work jointly with parents to secure the best outcomes for every student.

We would be delighted to see you in school to show you more of what we offer. If you telephone or email us, the school's Reception team can arrange a tour of the school to experience the purposeful, supportive atmosphere.
