Welcome to Wreake Valley Sixth Form

Wreake Valley Sixth Form offers a wide range of opportunities for all students.  The Sixth Form is not just a continuation from the main school, it offers greater individuality, more responsibility and greater depth of study.  For 2018 we will recruit from 11-16 schools in the area, so our Sixth Form will be a great place to meet new people and friends, and there will definitely be a feeling of something new and exciting.

If you currently study at Wreake Valley Academy, you will be able to continue your education in familiar surroundings with the added bonus of having the separate Sixth Form Centre which will be new to you.  If you are joining the Sixth Form from another school you will be made very welcome and you will soon feel at home and realise why our Sixth Form is so popular and successful.

"We believe our Sixth Form is large enough to have the freedom and responsibility of a college but small enough to have the support and sense of belonging of a school.  Best of both worlds!"  Neha October 2017.

We have thought carefully about the suite of A Levels and BTEC courses that we deliver.  We are proud of the full range of facilitating subjects we offer which have enabled many of our students to follow their career aspirations into dentistry, medicine and veterinary, many who now attend one of the Russell Group Universities.  In addition we offer a good range of vocational courses which can lead onto vocational degrees in the creatives, engineering, sports or business.  We firmly believe that our Level 3 provision (A Level and BTEC courses) can cater for the needs of most students.

About us

Wreake Valley Sixth Form is a high achieving post 16 centre.

Situated in Syston on the edge of Leicester City serving North East Leicestershire and Charnwood, we offer a wide range of A Level courses.  We boast some of the best results in Leicestershire and our students' progress on to a range of university courses, apprenticeships and employment.

The Sixth Form is large enough to be able to offer a wide range of facilitating and vocational A Levels/BTECs and small enough for all students to be known by name and provided with personalised academic and pastoral support.

Facilities available

The Sixth Form Centre is based in its own part of Wreake Valley Academy.  Students have their own dedicated study areas, IT Study Zone, large social area and own canteen area.  We have dedicated student support available to help students with assignments and study skills.

There is a learning resource centre available to students and a UCAS/Careers area.

Students have access to a state of the art 3G pitch, sports halls, theatre, dance and drama studios, and excellent engineering and design workshops. Next door to the Sixth Form Centre is a swimming pool and gym where older students can benefit from discounted membership.

Additional support

The Sixth Form Centre is committed to ensuring that all students with an additional need or disability are treated fairly.  Reasonable adjustments to provision are made to allow them to reach their full potential.  Students with individual learning needs are offered specific support through our SENCO and Inclusion team.

The Sixth Form runs a bursary scheme to help those students who need financial support with their studies.

Learner success

Our A Level results were ranked as the third best in the county.

96% of all 'A' Levels were passed.

50% of A Level Maths students gained A/A*.

All Year 12 students complete work experience, and many successfully secure summer placements with Sutton Trust Nuffield, DMUaspire, Nottingham Potential and UHL NHS Trust..

100% of our students who applied in 2017 were accepted onto university courses, with others being accepted onto Art Foundation degrees or Level 3 apprenticeships.
