Welcome to Alleyne's Academy
Alleyne’s Sixth Form aims to meet the educational needs of 16 -19 year olds in Stone and the surrounding areas.
The Sixth Form offers a wide range of courses that provide a varied, interesting and stimulating learning culture using the latest educational resources and information technologies.
The teaching staff are very experienced and provide a friendly and challenging environment in which students are encouraged to pursue knowledge and expand upon their learning at every opportunity.
At Alleyne’s Sixth Form we aim to provide all our students with the skills necessary to gain entry to University, further training or to prepare them for a successful career. Sixth Form students at Alleyne’s are assured of a warm welcome, expert guidance and support throughout their studies.
Facilities available
All classrooms, laboratories, art and drama studios at Alleyne’s are equipped with new interactive whiteboards to create an exciting and invigorating learning environment for students.
Students in the Sixth Form have their own large and well resourced study area in which to focus on private study. The silent study room is equipped with computers and a reference section including university and careers guidance resources. In addition there are some smaller rooms in the Sixth Form centre which can also be used for private study.
Students are also welcome to make use of the careers library run by Staffordshire Young People’s Service who can provide them with a wealth of resources, advice and guidance on all matters to do with careers, employment and work based learning. During lunchtimes and after school Sixth Form students often make use of the drama and art studios as well as the music practice rooms to further develop their skills and interests in these areas. The many ICT suites within the school are also available for students to use for private study when not timetabled for teaching.
Additional support
Students with special educational needs are supported by the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO), Mrs N Cole.
The school has a current Disability Equality Scheme and this is monitored by the Senior Leadership Team of the school. A key aim of the school is to provide equal opportunities for all students to ensure that no individual student is treated less favourably than any other.
A significant building programme was completed in the summer of 2009, including the installation of two lifts and a wide range of ramps across the school site. This has supported access to the school in accordance with the guidance of the Disability Discrimination Act.
