Hind Leys College (Iveshead School) is a merged through school for Years 7 to 13, renowned for a positive learning environment with a clear focus on helping students achieve GCSEs, A Levels and equivalent Qualifications.

About us

We are a relatively small college having approximately 200 students in the Sixth Form - which is a strength of Hind Leys as it allows close knowledge and contact with our learners and their families.  We have created a calm atmosphere in which all our learners feel valued and where they are actively encouraged to learn effectively. This includes a dedicated area where private independent study is supported and supervised, as well as timetabled periods where students can work together on group projects.
 
Creativity and high performance is at the heart of all that we do, from the normal teaching and learning lesson, through to our splendid stage productions, in our well equiped, professional theatre.  We seek to engage our students in ways that enable them to achieve their personal best.  In order that succes is really available for all, we offer the traditional subjects, several social sciences and additional vocational learning.
 

Facilities available

We occupy an impressive site with superb facilities.  We have well equipped science laboratories, a dance studio, a recording studio, ceramics area, visual media (Photography) laboratory and 7 ICT suites, plus numerous wireless linked laptops, chrome books, interactive teaching boards, a state of the art library with up to date research and study facilities. We have function facilities for community users, including a 200 seat theatre, an exhibition gallery -  The Mark Parker Gallery, and a thriving Youth Centre, We also have a swimming pool. climbing wall, sports hall, playing fields, and an all weather pitch.

Hind Leys is always alive with opportunities, both in the teaching day and beyond it.

Additional support

To ensure that we have an individual and personalised approach, we have strong guidance teams in each Key Stage, dedicated tutors, mentors, Special Needs Advisers, and Gifted and Talented programmes.  We also have good supportive contacts beyond the college, including an  Independent Careers Advisor and Student Support Service.

Learner success

70% of our sixth form students progress onto Higher Education while  others  secure  apprenticeships and fulltime employment after they leave us.  We are proud of our support systems in place to assist students achieve at the highest level and to the best of their abilities.

    • Hind Leys College shares campus with Shepshed High School, St Botolphs C of E Primary School, Hind Leys Pre-School, The Oak Treehouse Nursery and Shepshed Toy Library.

      Shepshed Campus is only a short distance off Leicester Road from the A512, off Junction 23 of the M1.  The nearest train station is Loughborough.

      Bus links include Arriva bus nos. 126 and 127,  Paul Winson nos. 4 and 129, connecting Shepshed to Leicester, Loughborough, Coalville and Ashby de la Zouch.  

      Students attending Hind Leys College from the catchment areas and neighbouring villages are bussed to college through the Leicestershire County Council school transport provision.
