Welcome to Bordesley Green Girls' School & Sixth Form

Welcome to Bordesley Green Girls' School & Sixth Form!

Our reputation as a world class school is renown and we thank you for taking the time to consider us for your post-16 destination.  Our Sixth Form has the fantastic ability of enhancing the lives of all the girls that attend as well as producing some of the best quality students that you could wish for. Our A-level standards are exceedingly good with over 86% A*-C attainment in all our A-Levels subjects and the average attainment grade of Dist*, Dist* Dist in our Level 3 Btec vocational subjects.  As well as being a world class school we offer a gold standard quality mark of Careers, Advice and Guidance to all of our students and non more so in KS4 and KS5 which enables all of students to make well informed, well judged choices.  Many of our students go into higher education and we cherish the relationships we have the local red-brick universities such as the Birmingham University and Aston University.

About us

We are an all girls 11-19 local authority school with a sixth form attached.  The sixth form holds 350 students at its maximum capacity.  The girls follow a six period day timetable of 50 minute lessons based on a two-weekly format.  The school day operates from 8.50am until 3.25pm. During a typical sixth form day a students time will consist of lessons, a 20 minute morning break, 45 minutes lunch time and free periods during some of the day where a student is expected to study privately.  A student will have one lesson a week of PHSE and one lesson a week of enrichment that allows a student to follow something not on curriculum such as Duke of Edinburgh, drama, gardening or debating (to name just a selection)

It is our hope that this approach to sixth form allows each girl to become a well-rounded and balanced student.

Facilities available

We are located on the Bordesley Green Road, with great public transport access.  Adderley Park train station is only 5 minutes away and the number  8 and 97 stop directly outside the school

Additional support

The school has access to wheelchair users as well as a hearing impaired centre for who require that facility.

We offer a small school bursary to those students who meet the financial criteria set out by us.

We also offer the students the 16-18 TWM bus card that allows students to pay child fare on public transport.

Free schools meals are also available to families who meet the qualifying criteria set out by the government

Learner success

Over the last four years, nine of our year 13 students have been accepted onto Medicine and dentistry at Birmingham University, plus we have had several students choose universities outside of the West Midlands to study Opthamology and Biomedical Sciences.  Many of our students have also gained places on the highly competative courses of Midwifery and Nursing also at Birmingham University.  Similarly, lots of students have picked teaching as their choice of pathway a wide variety of local universities ranging from Coventry to Leicester De Monfort and from Worcester to Aston.

We not only encourage Higher Education but also the prospect of an apprenticeship, traineeship or employment .  We have fantastic relationships with local employers such as Deloitte, KPMG and Hays Recruitment to name just a few.
