Welcome to Ripley St Thomas CE Academy

Ripley St Thomas is a Voluntary-Aided comprehensive Church of England Academy opened in 1864, now with 1650 pupils aged 11-18 on roll. Of these 350 are in the Sixth Form. The school admits 260 pupils each September. We exist to provide the best educational opportunities we can for the young people and families we are privileged to serve. At Ripley, we aim to combine our rich tradition with 21st century thinking in order to develop our young people in body, mind and spirit and equip them to be responsible members of society who will make a real difference in this world.

About us

We are a large secondary academy with over 1600 pupils, over 350 of whom are in our sixth form. We are proud of our strong traditions and our sense of community which we believe enables our students to develop and grow in confidence during their time with us. Our dream is to unlock the talent and potential in our young people; we believe each and every one of them can achieve great things and make a real difference in this world. Our Anglican foundation and Christian ethos underpin all that we do and, as a worshipping community we try to witness to the Christian faith in all our activities and interactions. We offer a very wide curriculum including Agriculture and Horticulture for all students at&KS3 and 34 subjects at A/AS level. Extra curricular activities are a great strength of the school going on well into each evening and over the weekends. Studentsandrsquo; education is further enhanced through the many opportunities open to us as an International School. Building on over 140 years of heritage since its opening in Lancaster by Julia Ripley in 1864, the school is committed to providing a vibrant, exciting experience for young people. Our facilities have been enhanced by a brand new state of the art Sixth Form Centre, a large independent study resource with five seminar rooms, five tutorial rooms, multi-purpose 300-seat lecture theatre, two independent IT facilities, dining centre and common room. We would be more than happy to show you around our school or to answer any queries you have. Please feel free to contact us via the school office.
