Welcome to Burlington Danes Academy

EVERY STUDENT MATTERS. EVERY LESSON COUNTS.

Here at Burlington Danes we are committed to delivering an outstanding education in an exceptional environment, where every child has the opportunity to achieve the highest level of academic success.

Our students leave us as motivated individuals with purpose, direction, a love of learning and a sense of vocation, prepared for successful careers and fulfilling lives. This sense of scholarship underpins all that we do.

WE ARE A CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY

Burlington Danes ensures that each student feels unique and valued as a child of God, sensitive to the needs of others as well as their own. We are proud to have a close relationship with the Diocese of London.

Students’ personal growth and learning are why our academy exists and we want our students to be spiritual individuals. Staff ensure that students are always engaged in something enjoyable, worthwhile and meaningful, helping them take pride in themselves and their academy.

Additional support

Teacher support is commonly identified by our students as the main reason why they stay with us for sixth form. Our staff are experienced A-Level and vocational teachers who deliver challenging and engaging lessons, personalising learning to suit the needs of all individual students. In addition, our staff frequently run after school, weekend and holiday revision sessions to support exam preparation.

The pastoral team supports subject teachers and students through academic mentoring, close tracking of target and predicted grades, and careers guidance.

Learner success

In GCSEs, 59% of students achieved 5 A*-Cs including English and Maths. English results were particularly strong, with 83% of students getting a grade of A*-C in that subject.  The school also rates high in Attainment 8 and Progress 8 measures, which from next year will represent the new benchmark score for Key Stage 4.

Sixth Form Results this year are very strong, The picture looks very good: we are at 57% A* – B , a high percentage, even more so given that we do not share the high entry requirements of neighbouring schools. The majority of our pupils in Year 13 (89%) obtained A* – C grades which augurs well for the quality of teaching and subject understanding by our staff.  We are immensely proud that we have one Oxford student, one going to Harvard and two medics.
