Welcome to Archbishop Tenison's School
Welcome to our Sixth Form.
The core values of our school are “CHART”- Compassion, Hard Work, Accountability, Respect and Trust- and these are at the centre of everything that we do.
We are very proud of our Sixth Form and our numbers and exam successes continue to grow year by year. We offer both A Level and BTEC courses.
If you come to Tenison’s you will be joining us at a very exciting time. We have had girls in our Sixth Form since 2011 but in September 2015 we admitted girls into year 7 for the first time as the school went fully co-educational. We are also entering into a partnership with St Mark’s, a local Church of England Primary School.
Archbishop Tenison’s is a small school and this helps to create a real family atmosphere with all the students known by the staff. Students achieve at Tenison’s, whether it is a high flyer with a string of A grades and a place at a top university or someone who just needs that extra push to get help them on the way to further education or into their chosen career.
Everyone is expected to work hard and do their best and our exam success is vital to us. But academic achievement is not everything. We want to offer a rounded education that means our boys and girls leave the school able to go out into the World as good citizens.
Please visit the school to see for yourselves what we can offer.
Here at Tenison’s we offer dedicated small group teaching. We believe that being in our Sixth Form is about your own personalised success and we ensure that your care is sewn into the school’s core values.
Being part of our Sixth Form means dressing smartly and leading in our community. We are a Sixth Form family and as a consequence of this you will have your own tutor who will meet with you on a daily basis and who will be able to give you additional support with your learning. Alongside having access to mentoring schemes and constant support from the Sixth Form team, ATS is a church school, so we take part in upper school assembly and follow a varied and current enrichment programme. This is designed to help you with your personal, social, spiritual and moral education as well as your future destination.
We offer a wide and growing range of A Levels as well as some BTEC courses. We also offer the Extended Project (EPQ). Alongside your learning curriculum you can also become part of our Sixth Form committees and there are different opportunities to do work experience.
We have links with a number of organisations that are linked to Universities, apprenticeships and the working world. These include: Cambridge, Imperial, UCL, LSBU, Kings, Into University, Lionheart, The Brilliant Club, Step into my shoes, The Bank of England, RBS, Uni Genius, the Advocacy Academy and the Chartered Surveyors to name but a few!
We have a Sixth Form computer room and study room and kitchen facilities.
All Sixth Formers have access to London South Bank University library and facilities to support their learning. This includes getting a student card as part of the LSBU access scheme.
We work our Sixth Formers hard with progress tracked every 3 weeks but there is still time for wider personal development and also for some fun. Every week we have enrichment sessions where students can debate issues or listen to outside speakers. We also have an annual leavers’ prom and a wide range of social events during the year.
When you join our Sixth you will be offered a laptop at a heavily subsidised price and we also offer a programme of Government bursaries as well as bursaries from the Dyers Company and Surrey County Cricket Club. There are also bursaries that you can apply for such as the Amos bursary or funding to make your dreams come true via our links with the Evison foundation.
Our students have gone on to study degrees in a whole variety of courses from medicine to architecture to radio broadcasting to engineering. They are studying at Universities all across the country including UCL, Imperial, Manchester, Leeds, Loughborough, Brunel, Coventry, Southampton and UCA.
We also have students who specialise in art and who have won places at Camberwell art college. Students can also work alongside Westminster school to join their Oxbridge programme or receive specialist lectures in medicine or law. Over the last few years all of our students have left with a destination; we are very proud of this and continue to make this a priority for all our students.
