Welcome to Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School

Thank you for choosing Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School as your potential Sixth Form. The Sixth Form has a lot to offer our students as does the school as a whole. As Ofsted have commented on their last two inspections the progress made by students in the Sixth Form is outstanding.

Our school motto is: ‘From hard work character grows’ and we strive, therefore, to help to develop the skills that are needed past the school environment and, the skills that will help students to achieve academic success. In terms of our curriculum we offer a number of academic AS and A levels in order to support our students on their desired pathway. We strive for academic achievement in the Sixth Form with a significant majority of our students going on to Higher Education. Our students are ambitious and hard working and we have high expectations to ensure that they are able to achieve. We aim to foster a strong and positive partnership with all our students and their parents ensuring that each and every person achieves their full potential.

Here at CSGS it is important for us to help the members of our Sixth Form to develop as well rounded students who leave this school fully prepared for the next stage of their life. Our students are encouraged to organise their time for all of their subjects and extracurricular activities and improve their independent study skills and research skills. By doing this they will be able to take more responsibility for their own learning and future achievements. We are proud of the growth mindset that our students demonstrate throughout their time at the school through the effort that they put into all that they do.

We know at CSGS that it is important for members of our Sixth Form to stand out in the competitive entrance to universities and the employment market. Therefore, all of our Year 12 students are asked to take part in at least one Leadership Activity either inside or outside school. Within school there are many activities that they can take part in including; supporting students at Marlborough School (the local school for students with special educational needs), Sports Leadership Award, public speaking, being involved in editing our school magazine, being part of our School Officer team etc. There are activities to cater to all interests and help to develop character within the members of our Sixth Form.

Our Sixth Form admits approximately 400 students each year across Years 12 and 13. The vast majority of our students stay on at the end of Year 11 as we see this as a seven year journey. Approximately 60 students join us in the Sixth Form and they also thrive in this academic and supportive environment.

We hope that you will be able to find the more detailed information on our courses useful, you can access our online subject prospectus here, and that you may be able to join us on our Sixth Form Open Evening.
