Welcome to Copthall School
Welcome to Copthall School.
At Copthall School, it is our mission to provide excellence in education for all. The school continues to grow in its journey of victory; with the 2017 exam results proving girls succeed at Copthall School. This year 84% of our A Level students achieved A*-C grades, taking the school’s performance above the national average by nearly 7%. Our GCSE results this year were equally impressive as students received 80% A* - C or 9 – 4 grades, which overshadows the National Average by 12%. In addition 30% of Copthall's students were awarded A*- A or 9-7 grades which puts them 10% above the National Average and 8% above the All Girl School National Average.
We pride ourselves on our passion for learning. Our aim to provide a safe and nurturing environment to foster, encourage and celebrate every student’s talent is mirrored in our promise that every student will be supported to develop the skills and strategies needed to fulfil their academic potential.
Our long standing vision; to empower and equip young women to exceed, to provide an inspiring education and to create a positive learning environment motivates all that we do. Beyond academic success, our students take part in an unrivalled series of enrichment opportunities, including residential trips, extra-curricular clubs and visits to the theatre and ballet.
Choosing a secondary school for your child is one of the most important decisions a parent or carer can make, and I believe that the offer we have at Copthall School is truly unique. Our extremely positive ethos is underpinned by our respectful, caring, hard-working and aspirational girls and on behalf of all students and staff; I am immensely proud of our school and feel fortunate to be Headteacher.
Message from the Director of Sixth Form
Copthall Sixth Form was judged as a ‘Good’ Sixth Form in the latest Ofsted 2016 report. The Sixth Form is made up of students who have chosen to return to Copthall following their GCSEs; and we welcome students who have completed their GCSEs elsewhere. The education offered in the Sixth Form is exciting, challenging and highly creative enabling our students to access academic challenge. The Sixth Form curriculum offers students a wide range of courses for all ability students, including A Level subjects, BTEC options and Vocational pathways alongside our extensive tutorial and PSHE programme. Our pastoral care is paramount to the well-being of our students and we have many internal and external staff and agencies that work with our students including an careers advisor.
We are part of the school community and the values of our school permeate across all aspects of the Sixth Form provision. Sixth Form students play a unique and valuable role in the school, contributing actively to the wider life of the school community. Students arrange and run events, mentor students and take on leadership responsibilities. Our student leadership team and prefect team mirror the staff leadership team who work alongside each other to support and drive whole school initiatives.
Our students are actively encouraged to participate in the range of enrichment activities available to them so they further develop personal skills. We also have a very robust work experience, UCAS programme and Oxbridge programme, which help our students to prepare for their next step.
The Sixth Form Centre has a dedicated area for silent study where students spend their supervised study sessions and in January 2017 we welcomed a space equipped with an area for students to complete group work. Other facilities include a Cafe and a Sixth Form Garden equipped with table tennis. There is also access to Wi-Fi for all students bringing in their own devices.
We look forward to welcoming you to Copthall School Sixth form.
