Welcome to Bishop Ramsey C of E School

Welcome to Bishop Ramsey which is now an Academy with a thriving sixth form.  We offer a wide curriculum in our Sixth Form, with all subjects taught by specialist teachers.

About us

We are an 11 to 18 year old's mixed comprehensive school in Ruislip. Almost 340 of our students are in the Sixth Form. Our School is a thriving and vibrant community of 1250 students and 150 staff. We achieve well in public examinations and also when value added measures are used. The School has a rich cultural life, with regular Art Exhibitions, Concerts and Productions. We also field teams in Football, Basketball, Hockey, Netball, Cricket, Cross Country and Athletics. All of our sixth form students are involved in community service whether it be in the local area or in school.
We offer a wide range of A Levels, mainly facilitating subjects for progress to University. Students are increasingly choosing Higher apprenticeships as an alternative to Universiy.

Facilities available

State of the Art buildings were completed Easter 2009 Dance Studio / Drama Barn Excellent ICT facilities in all faculty areas.  The Virtual Learning Environment is used extensively by staff and students and we encourage the students to 'bring their own device' to lessons. They can log on to the wi-fi anywhere in the school.

Additional support

There is strong pastoral support for all our sixth form led by our Head of Sixth form, 2 Heads of Year, a pastoral assistant and a study room manager. All students are members of a tutor group and the form tutor works with the students as a group and on an individual basis to ensure they get the best out of their time with us. We have a detailed learning for life programme for our students covering such topics as applying for the next stage, careers advice and individual mentoring.  Throughout the two years, there will be support to develop Study Skills, to apply for Universtity/apprenticeships/employment as well as opportunities for trips, lectures, conferences and presentations.

Learner success

At A2 level we achieved 59% of A2 level grades were A*-B with 26% of them being A* or A grades. This caused the school to rank among the best comprehensive Sixth Forms in the country in the league tables published in the national newspapers. 9 of our A2 level students achieved 3 A grades or better. Our one student who had provisional offers at Oxford and Cambridge University achieved the grades needed to take up their place.

At GCSE 80% of our students obtained the benchmark figure of 5 A*-Cs, including English and Maths. This was the best of any maintained school in the borough of Hillingdon. 34% of all our grades were A* or A.  11 students achieved at least 10 A*-A grades at GCSE.
