Welcome to Lea Valley High School

Lea Valley High School Sixth Form provides a vibrant, academically stimulating and friendly environment, where all students Achieve, Develop and Excel. Our commitment to each student is to provide outstanding learning experiences which give them the opportunity to mature and develop into responsible adults, with the skills to fulfill their potential.  We ensure students meet this commitment by tracking their academic progress, attendance and punctuality.

The majority of our students aspire to complete their education at Lea Valley in our Sixth Form.  Our aim is to support each student to be the best they can be, and have the academic and social grounding to enable them to pursue their future pathway. We expect students to work hard and actively participate in the life of the school through leadership, mentoring and charity work.

We work in partnership with parents and carers to fully support our students. Together, we fully prepare students for progression into higher education, employment or an apprenticeship, guiding them to follow a successful future career. We are proud of our students.  They work hard, they achieve and they enjoy their learning.

We look forward to you joining our community.

About us

The Sixth Form Centre offers an inspiring Post 16 education to all students, with a wide range of courses. Ofsted acknowledges our work in caring and supporting our students.

Our Sixth Form students are very much at the heart of the school and contribute fully through the prefect and house systems.

In addition to academic and vocational courses we provide a wide variety of extra-curricular activities which encourage all students to develop into confident, mature young adults, preparing them to take the next steps to higher education and beyond.

Facilities available

Lea Valley is housed in new inspirational buildings offering a light, bright, airy learning environment with state of the art facilities.  All classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards, and each curriculum area has its own suite of rooms including a dedicated ICT room.  Some of the specialist areas include a language laboratory, seven ICT/Business rooms, ten science laboratories, a recording studio, a dance studio and two drama studios.

We believe it is very important to come together as a community and are fortunate to have an impressive Assembly Hall where the whole school meets for full school assembly twice weekly.  Our library is at the heart of our building where students have the opportunity to pursue independent study, join the lunchtime chess club or simply quietly read a book.  One of the school's most impressive features is its spectucular courtyard, where children can relax safely in the garden areas or the outdoor amphitheatre.

Additional support

At Lea Valley High School, Sixth Form students are part of a school committed to raising aspirations.  They act as role models for the younger students and represent the school throughout the community.  We have an extensive programme to support students in their university application or progression into the workplace.  This year, 98% of our students wishing to attend university achieved a place.  We provide UCAS support, work experience opportunities, volunteering opportunities, mock interviews and university visits to place students in the perfect position when they leave us and go on to university and the workplace. Our Sixth Form Tutor Team are skilled in monitoring and raising student attainment, and also prepare students for Higher Education, training and employment.

Learner success

At Lea Valley High School we are passionate about  education. We are committed to ensuring our students reach their absolute potential, and will do everything possible to support them. We have built our post 16 education programme around our students’ needs and offer an extensive range of A level and BTEC courses. I

n the 2013‐2014 academic year, our students’ performance for A level and BTEC combined was rated as 1 (outstanding) under Alps – a key report that compares student performance nationally.

The majority of our class sizes are small, with the advantage that students can discuss assignments, study techniques and revision methods in more detail with their teachers.
