Welcome to Kantor King Solomon High School
Headteachers Welcome
I am delighted to welcome you to Kantor King Solomon, a school judged by OFSTED in May 2016 to be a good school.
As a modern Jewish orthodox school we are also judged to be good by Pikuach.
The strength of the school is based on the strength of our community. This is a school with a vibrant, enthusiastic and focused group of students, supported by a team of highly qualified, committed and skilled group of staff.
The educational life of the school is deeply enhanced by its Jewish ethos, which is understood by all our community. Alongside is a focussed determination to support the children to go above and beyond their expectations in public examinations.
This is a happy school with a great atmosphere. Please read our literature, browse our website and above all, visit our school for yourself.
Kind regards
Mr Matthew Slater

About us
King Solomon High School is a co-educational comprehensive school serving the Jewish Communities of Redbridge, Essex and the surrounding areas. King Solomon High School’s Foundation Body is the United Synagogue. The School embraces modern orthodox Jewish belief and practice and a unique feature of the school is its Jewish atmosphere. The School is keen on presenting a totally fresh approach to Jewish life. We teach the full range of national curriculum subjects in addition to providing a range of formal and informal Jewish educational programmes. We encourage our students to take their place as healthy, active and tolerant citizens in a multi-cultural society, accepting those who are different and caring for those who are in need.
Additional support
Individuals are important – all problems are listened to and acted on be they of an academic, social, emotional or behavioural nature.
PSHCE & Kehilla - The ethos of the school, the day to day relationships between staff and pupils, the value system of a school, the opportunities for moral, spiritual, social and cultural development as well as the more formal PSHCE curriculum, which includes ‘lifeskills days’ run by outside agencies as well as the PSHCE work carried out by tutors or by subject specialists. We also have frequent ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions where community leaders provide lunch and study a religious or philosophical concept.
Pastoral Discipline - The discipline system in the school includes the giving of sanctions but is a much wider concept than that. Good, consistent, discipline which affirms the pupils' value is an essential ingredient of effective pastoral care. We particularly emphasise the wearing of correct school uniform including skirts that reach the knee, lanyards and kippot for boys. In addition to this we monitor lateness and attendance both of which can carry a detention penalty as can persistent lack of equipment in lessons or poor behaviour in class.
Learner success
A Level Exam Success
Kantor King Solomon enjoyed another year of excellent A’level results. The school in Barkingside was in the top 25% of school nationally for results, and believes that this position has been maintained.
Overall 75% of grades were A* - C.
“We are delighted that the hard work, dedication and commitment of our students has led to such success at A’ level. These results, plus our recent ‘Good’ OfSTED grading show that the school is continuing to provide a great education for the students of North East London and south Essex.”
