Welcome to Hayes School

We believe Hayes School is a very special place and we are exceptionally proud of the school we have created together with staff, students, parents and governors. Having been recognised as an outstanding school by OFSTED in 2011 and 2013 we are not complacent or any less determined to improve Hayes School even further. We are committed to ensuring Hayes School is an exceptional school for every child where excellence is standard in all we do.

  • We believe in excellence - we have a passion to be the best, value every student and believe everyone wants to and can succeed.
  • We provide excellence - we provide excellent facilities, a curriculum and lessons which motivate and inspire children to achieve and go the extra mile to provide care, support and guidance to our young people.
  • We achieve excellence - students attain highly and make progress whatever their starting point. We celebrate their success and achievements.

Your children are the most important people to you and to Hayes School. Our joint venture over the next seven years is to help them develop the skills, knowledge, qualifications, character and ambition to become outstanding young people able to access opportunities and life chances which would otherwise be closed to them. We want them to become adults of whom you and we are proud; individuals who contribute to and are leaders in the world in which they live.

Our school vision is:
"To have uncompromising aspirations for every individual and for our school to be recognised locally, nationally and internationally as an exceptional and inspirational community of lifelong learners."

Parents and staff joining Hayes need to commit to "Would this be outstanding for my child?" and ensure that what we provide is just that.
Hayes School has recently been designated a National Teaching School in recognition of our work in developing high quality teaching and learning, sustaining excellent academic outcomes and providing an exceptional range of extra-curricular and personal development opportunities for all students.
We look forward to welcoming you and your child to Hayes School and to you joining us on the next stage of our and your journey.

Mr Osborne, Principal and Mr Whittle, Head of School

About us

“To inspire and support every individual sixth form student toward meeting the personal and academic aspirations, every day.”

In many ways the Sixth Form is Hayes School’s crowning glory. It is the culmination of 7 years of schooling and the bridge to university, further education or careers that would not be accessible without the qualifications obtained during the 1 or 2 year courses. Hayes Sixth Form has approximately 490 students comprising of the 85% of students who stay on from Year 11 and the large number who transfer to the Sixth Form from other schools.
Both groups are attracted by the reputation for academic success, the large number and great variety of courses on offer and the exciting social activities and opportunities that Hayes Sixth Form offers.

Hayes Sixth Form offers the opportunity for young people to study, socialise and develop in a structured and caring environment. Greater freedom is matched with the expectation of increased responsibility. Progress is monitored and shared with the students and their parents. We believe this is the environment and structure where students can achieve their potential and develop the study and social skills required for Higher Education and the world of work.

In the Sixth Form students develop their leadership skills by being role models for the lower school, taking up roles within the Head Boy and Head Girl Team, becoming a Senior Prefect, Peer Mentoring younger students and by representing the school in the community and even nationally. Equally students can access the impressive range of extra curricular opportunities in Sport, Music, Drama and many other areas. Sixth Formers organise the Sixth Form and run the school council assisted by teaching and non-teaching staff. They also receive guidance and counselling on a whole range of issues from study skills to careers, higher education and financial matters.

Ultimately it is the quality of teaching and learning which distinguishes our Sixth Form and we are proud of the success academically and personally of the young men and women who, when they leave our Sixth Form, are in a far stronger position to make a success of their lives and contribute to the world in which they live.
