Welcome to Greenford High School

Welcome to Greenford High, an outstanding, high achieving, truly non-selective comprehensive. Greenford High was graded as Outstanding in our last Ofsted inspection, and other recent objective external measures confirm this judgement. The nationally respected ALPS (A Level Performance System) judges our performance as excellent or outstanding for adding value to our students’ achievements for the last 7 years. Similarly, our value added at KS4 is one of the highest both locally and nationally. Simply put, the progress that our students make consistently puts us in the top 5% in the country. For the third year running in 2015, we are one of the very few comprehensive schools to be given membership to the Mayor of London’s Gold Club, based on the progress our students make. Only 10 Secondary Schools in London have achieved this three years in a row.

We are delighted that the outstanding work by our students, staff, governors and parents is being recognised, but we remain ambitious to continue to improve. Our philosophy will remain the same: we are a reflective, self-critical institution that focuses on developing learning and teaching. We are delighted with our achievements and the progress we have made in recent years, but we are ambitious in our desire to continue to improve. We live by our mission statement and by our motto – we are simply Learning to Succeed..

" We work to provide all of our students with the skills, aptitudes and strength of character to meet the challenges of life beyond Greenford… we want our students to enjoy their education and to develop into responsible, caring and tolerant citizens"
Colin Horsley, Deputy Head Teacher

Last year was our another successful year at Post-16, with our results putting us in the top 8% of Post 16 Centres (according to ALPS data).  For more detailed results analysis please see the results section of the website. Every student in Year 13 who wanted to go to University did so with many going to the very best universities to study the most sought-after courses. But we are not complacent and we are always trying to improve.

At Greenford, we have an outstanding and wide-ranging curriculum offer, providing courses that are suitable for all, no matter what your interests please see Courses on Offer section.  In recent years the number of courses has grown considerably and our results, in all areas, continue to be excellent. We have established a national reputation for our Post 16 Centre and it is not surprising that there continues to be competition for places, and we therefore recommend early application.

The Governors and teachers of the school are particularly proud of our deserved reputation as a caring community. We never forget that we are here for the benefit of the students. The quality of education is always about the quality of staff and, if you join us, you will have the support of two hugely experienced Post 16 Leaders, Mr Dudman-Jones and Mr Dixon, and an outstanding teaching, pastoral and admin team.  With 4 Pastoral Learning Managers with a vast amount of experience and no teaching timetables, we have the ability to support you every step of the way. We aim to treat every student as an individual, as an exception and as someone to be valued.

We have high expectations and consequently expect full commitment from all our students. If you work as hard as you can then we have the experience and the ability to guide you to the best possible progression pathway. Students are currently studying for degree courses at universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, UCL, Queen Mary, Royal Holloway, LSE, Warwick, Bristol and Leeds. Our highly regarded UCAS preparation programme includes Summer Schools in North America and the most prestigious UK based Universities.  Our parents give us strong support in this area and this is matched by the enthusiasm of the students and the hard work and commitment of their tutors.

Of course, results aren’t everything and at Greenford High School we provide our Post 16 students with a very wide range of additional opportunities and experiences. So, whether you are into theatre, sport, music, movies, media, debating, charity work or trips abroad there will be something on offer for you.
