Inspiring teaching is at the heart of our school and our committed team of highly qualified teachers ensure students are challenged daily in their lessons, enjoy learning and strive to achieve their best.
From 2018-2020 Hampton Students will be offered the opportunity to study in the sixth form at either Teddington or Hampton High, courses will be offered according to interest from students. Hampton High and Teddington curriculum will be designed to complement each other and provide high quality sixth form provision across Hampton High, Teddington and Waldegrave.
OUR VISION AND VALUES
We aspire, We respect, We collaborate, We are resilient
Hampton High is an inspirational school; a beacon in the community. We listen, we care, we respect, we aspire, we work together to create a happy learning community where resilient and confident students relish the opportunities and challenges that come their way.
We are proud to be a school that serves the community and reflects the diversity it brings.
Our friendly sixth form offers a range of A Level and BTEC courses and excellent pastoral care. Students will have an outstanding tutorial programme and a wide range of extra-curricular activities, trips, visits and work experience that will set our students apart when applying for university. Hampton High sixth form students will have the opportunity to take on leadership roles in the wider Hampton High community that will help prepare them for their next steps.
We have an enviable reputation for offering a supportive, caring and academic environment which provides guidance for our students. Students will have the opportunity to study with staff who know them well and are highly qualified subject specialists. We believe that the wider experiences and enrichment we offer is central to our ethos. We want our sixth form students to work hard and enjoy the social aspect that is unique to the sixth form environment because they should enjoy learning, feel empowered and achieve outstanding results.
Our vibrant sixth form is housed separately in a fully refurbished block with access to an extensive library. Here students play a full and active role in school life, including working with younger students as mentors, teaching and learning leaders and role models.
Collaboration is a key value and we are delighted to be partnered with a new family of local schools - Teddington School, Twickenham Academy and Waldegrave School. Together our schools are stronger and our students benefit from cross-site teaching.
There will be considerable additional opportunities for students which includes, university visits, charity and community projects and cultural enrichment. Visits to theatres, galleries and museums will form a rich thread through the Hampton High sixth form experience. All our sixth form students will take part in work experience and job shadowing to help them make critical decisions about their future careers.
Specialist careers advice will be given. Planning for successful progression to university, training or employment will form the backbone of the sixth form experience. Additional coaching will be provided for applications to competitive universities such as Oxbridge and The Russell Group and courses in medicine, dentistry and veterinary science. Students will be supported through this process carefully so that they can make informed decisions and prepare for the next step. Study programmes include employability skills, knowledge of the labour market and specific work experience that links to your next steps.
Developing a love of learning linked to a sense of achievement is a cornerstone of life at Hampton High. We believe in personalised learning for all our students, whether it is to challenge the more able in line with their ability, or to remove barriers to learning for others. We are very proud of our high staying on rate post-16 and our highly successful and vibrant sixth form.
Our sixth form tutor groups offer excellent pastoral care with a programme of activities to inform, support and guide students through sixth form life. Tutor time is an important part of a student's study programme and will include academic monitoring, study skills, well-being and a range of issues that relate to life after sixth form.
We engage with students and parents throughout the year, regularly tracking, monitoring and reporting progress through goal setting, parents evenings and consultation evenings, as well as information sessions at key transition points in a students' development through the sixth form. This gives them the ability and skills to approach the world with confidence when they leave our sixth form.
We are able to support some students financially via the Bursary scheme - full details upon request.
