Welcome to St Aloysius RC College

St Aloysius' College is a Roman Catholic, boys-only state school in the London Borough of Islington, North London.

About us

St Aloysius’ College was founded in 1879 by the Brothers of Mercy as a Roman Catholic Independent part boarding and day school, then a Grammar School remaining so until it became Comprehensive in 1971. The control of the College was passed to the De La Salle Brothers in 1960. St Aloysius’ College is, then, privileged to be the oldest surviving foundation of its kind in the Archdiocese of Westminster.

Today, St Aloysius’ College is a comprehensive Day School for Roman Catholic boys in the age range 11-19. It takes six forms of entry at the age of 11+ and is administered by a Board of Governors acting under the trusteeship of the Archdiocese of Westminster. St Aloysius’ College is a voluntary aided school, proud of its Catholic tradition.

There is a commitment to encouraging a strong Catholic ethos and the whole atmosphere of the school reflects this in Religious lessons, Assemblies, Acts of Worship, the availability of the Sacraments as well as in the attitude of pupils, parents and teachers. All pupils are involved in these activities.
