Welcome to Enfield Grammar School
It is with great honour that I welcome you to Enfield Grammar School through our website. Our school has a tremendous history stretching back to 1558 where it began as an educational establishment, given the huge responsibility by the local church to teach poor, local children to read and write; what a wonderful, “comprehensive” mission.
Today we continue this work and much, much more. Our aim simply is to prepare our boys for the world. To give them the skills, knowledge and morals to be of use, to serve and to positively affect those that they encounter along the way. We expect hard work, good manners and in turn provide learning opportunities where all can fulfil their potential be that academic, social or moral. We’re very proud of our history and are equally excited about our future. I hope you find the website useful.
Welcome to Enfield Grammar Sixth Form.
At Enfield Grammar Sixth Form our aim is for all our students to leave with the highest possible outcomes in their chosen subject areas and to move onto the best that Higher Education, Apprenticeships or other pathways have available for each individual.
The Sixth Form is not the final destination for our students and we invest into the Progression of students beyond sixth form from the start of the application process. We use VESPA as a way to communicate and share this aim with students and parents.
We look forward to meeting you as either prospective new Sixth Form students or as current student working towards your next step.
Mr S Purrier, Director of Sixth Form
Ms Y Akaydin, Head of Year 13
Ms E Igbokwe, Head of Year 12
Ms J Jeffrey, Sixth Form Administrator
Ms D Coxon, UCAS Advisor
The Library is available for study throughout the school day with 24/7 access to the catalogue and selected on-line resources. Qualified library staff work closely with subject teachers to ensure a wide range of relevant materials are available, including journals and newspapers. Subject based tutorials are also delivered, for example in selecting and using online information effectively.
Boys are also encouraged to seek help on a one-toone basis, including support for UCAS applications. There is a well-stocked careers library covering all aspects of Further and Higher Education in addition to resources for pupils choosing alternatives such as apprenticeships. Boys can book an appointment with a professional careers advisor who is based in school for 2 days each week during term time.
There is also a dedicated Sixth Form area on Fronter, the school’s virtual learning environment (VLE), providing up-to-date information including opportunities post A level.
