Welcome to Elthorne Park High School

Welcome to our fantastic school.  I hope our website gives you a flavour of what a great place EPHS is, and how proud we are of all of our students and staff and their wonderful achievements.  Our mission statement: “achieving excellence in a learning community” highlights our core belief that everyone within our school is a learner, that everyone can excel to accomplish great things with the support and challenge of others and that all achievement should be celebrated together, working in partnership.

We aim for all of our students to achieve academic excellence and to also grow in confidence through other areas of school life, such as sport and the arts. We believe students have the right to experience excellence in the quality of teaching they receive, and always select the very best staff to work in our school. Our school is a happy, exciting and dynamic learning environment.  Do arrange a visit to see for yourself.

About us

The Sixth Form is a stepping stone. As soon as you join us we will be asking you exciting yet challenging questions about what you would like to get out of your time with us to help you get into the course, business, job or university of your choice. We want you to be ambitious and we will support you in realising those ambitions.

We all share responsibility for our Sixth Form community and for making it a truly exceptional place. You are a Sixth Form student by choice. You chose to join us and we chose to have you because we believe you can excel whilst you study here.

Significant investments have been made in the school in the past few years so that you have the best opportunities to be productive. You have use of the Sixth Form Centre as well as exclusive Sixth Form areas in the new building. You have a dedicated Sixth Form team, comprising the Head of Sixth Form, your Sixth Form Personal Tutors, Careers Advisor and our newly appointed specialist Sixth Form Administrator. Our teachers, librarians and support staff have been trained to provide you with the support and guidance that will help you become increasingly independent in your learning and development. We as staff shall do our part, but we expect you to take ownership of your education, work to the best of your ability at all times and be a conscientious member of our Sixth Form community. We have the highest expectations of you all, as you should of yourself. Be determined, resilient and focused. As you begin the year you must recognise that success will only be achieved through hard work.

We operate an ‘open door’ policy: if you have any concerns or worries please come to see me or your tutor immediately.  If you have any suggestions or ideas then we would like to hear them.  There are twelve Senior Prefects appointed to represent the student body so use them to voice your opinions to help make the Sixth Form even better.

Additional support

In Sixth form, students study a range of A Levels and/or BTEC courses. There are five pathways and students will receive guidance from the tutor and other teachers in Year 11 as to what is the most appropriate pathway for them. In addition, all students will be interviewed by a member of the senior leadership team to offer further support in students’ decision making

Learner success

We are a high-performing school and our value added performance has been consistently in the top 20% of schools nationally. The school’s performance is significantly above both Ealing and national averages and is in the top 25% of schools for attainment and progress.

Elthorne Park High school students and staff are celebrating exceptional A Level and BTEC results this year with 50% A*- A grades and 76% A*- B grades obtained overall at A Level or BTEC.

Once again, we have a high proportion of students going on to university with a stunning 87% taking up places at their first choice of university. In 2016, 43% of students have confirmed offers from top Russell Group universities in our most successful year since the Sixth Form began in 2009. We also have students who have secured unconditional university places this year for the first time having impressed admissions tutors with their applications and interviews. Our students hold unconditional offers from universities including SOAS, University of Hull, Middlesex University, Manchester Metropolitan and Roehampton.

Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form, Victoria Wells said, “I am so proud of all of our students and staff for all of the hard work that has led to our best results ever. As the Sixth Form continues to grow, the range of really interesting courses and highly respected universities our students go on to each year is really exciting.”

Headteacher Eliot Wong said "The Sixth Form is going from strength to strength with 2016 being our best results ever. Our fantastic results are testament to the hard work put in by staff and students alike. I am absolutely thrilled and wish all of our students great success in the next stage of their education.”
