Burntwood Sixth Form has very recently moved into brand new, state of the art accommodation as part of a whole school rebuilding programme. The new facilities have been specially designed for Sixth Formers, and include a number of different work and social spaces. There is even access to your very own Costa Coffee!  Visit us on our Open Days to explore the computer suites, specialist 6th form work spaces, performing arts spaces, music technology, swimming pool, common room and games room.

 

About us

Burntwood Sixth Form is a large and highly successful post 16 provider with both excellent results and a wide variety of final University destinations, over a third of which are Russell group. We pride ourselves on the level of individual help given to students to support them through the UCAS application process. As a Science specialist school we have strong links with University of London St George's training hospital and our pre medic programme prepares candidates thoroughly for Medicine courses throughout the Sixth Form.

Achievement and progress are high, and set to rise even further as the school completes its £40 million building programme, creating a modern school with superb ICT facilities, an interactive Science theatre, and workspaces specifically for Sixth Form use.

A vast number of our Sixth Formers also take the opportunity to take part in the many extra curriular activities we offer and 25 enrichment activities take place on Wednesday afternoons, including scuba diving, underwater media, parkour, zumba, mentoring, volunteering, basketball and personal training in the fitness suite equipped with the latest gym machines.. Students also run their own clubs using our new facilities such as music technology, playing in groups and working on a 6th form production. Whether you are interested in sports, fundraising or business enterprise, you will be sure to find something to interest you at Burntwood.

Facilities available

Burntwood School has had a £40 million refit through the BSF programme and is now fully complete and open. * buildings in a capus site of 11 acres provide an ideal setting for 6th form study and they large 6th form offers a wide The spacious social area includes a south facing terrace, games facilities and areas for relaxing. The study areas provide excellent ICT access as well as individual facilities for self study.

As part of the new development we have, we benefit from a full size Sports Hall, exciting new Library space and modern specialist teaching areas. The new Performing Arts block has purpose built dance, drama and music areas, recording studio and practice rooms.

There is also a suite of brand new Sixth Form accommodation, new Science, Maths, ICT and Business buildings containing ICT rich learning resources, new furniture and fittings, swimming pool with diving club offering PADI closed and open certificate and Underwater Media training.

Additional support

Students receive indiviual tutor support during daily touch base tutor time,  our weekly pastoral periods and Sixth Form Briefings. Careers and course guidance can also be sought from our professional Careers Officer and a wide range of specialists employed by the school.. 

There are many fantastic trips and residentials offered in the wide range of A Level and BTEC courses.  Our specialist Medical, Oxbridge and Russell Group application support programmes support application and entry to Higher education. All students who wish to go to university secure places through UCAS and extra support is given to UCAS extra nad clearing candidates.

Learner success

95%+ progression to University / Higher Ed / Art+Drama schools

Medical school applications to success ratio is one of the highest in London owing to our Pathways to Medicine programmes with St Georges hospital and Imperial College

Student progression rates are stong ( 90%+) and students may continue all courses they pass.
