Welcome to Ravensbourne
In a time of global change it has become increasingly important to us that we should lead the way in embracing the cultural diversity of our community, and to not just imagine, but also explore ways to create a better, more exciting future for everyone.
Milton Glaser, acclaimed designer, very pithily described how to measure the value of design: ‘There are three responses to a piece of design – yes, no, and WOW! Wow is the one to aim for.’
Ravensbourne seeks to deliver the skills and learning opportunities that will enable you to develop your talent and your own Wow! in your specialism. We hope that you will go on to apply those skills and problem-solving talents to look at the world’s problems - large and small - through a creative lens.
We often say that amazing things start at Ravensbourne and we’re proud of our staff, students and partners and the many innovative and entrepreneurial projects that take shape here through their talent and drive.
I am delighted that you are thinking of joining us. You will be taught by academics who are closely connected to industry and who have already enabled our graduates to go on to shape the creative landscape across the world.
I look forward to welcoming you to Ravensbourne and our creative community.
Professor Linda Drew, Director, Ravensbourne

We have a community of approximately 2,400 students and offer practically focused digital media and design courses from pre-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate to professional short course level.
Driven by industry standards and supported by the latest high-performance technology, we produce highly employable and enterprising graduates. We have a strong track record in graduate employability and business creation.
Ravensbourne also hosts alongside its student community more than 100 creative technology businesses that utilise its leading edge technologies and media resources, and collaborate with its student body and industry partners.
Ravensbourne gains Silver award in Teaching Excellence Framework
The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) has awarded Ravensbourne with Silver for its excellent quality of teaching. The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) has been introduced by the government to monitor and assess the quality of teaching in England’s universities/higher education institutions. It is designed to give students clear information about where teaching quality is at its best and where students have also achieved the best outcomes.
Ravensbourne was commended for its commitment to recruiting students from a diverse range of backgrounds, for its practice-based approach to learning through activities such as industry projects, and for its excellent digital resources. These, together with extensive industry partnerships have resulted in 95.3% of our students being employed or going on to further study within 6 months of graduation - a figure higher than the national average!
As you'd expect of a college focusing on design, it's a beautiful building inside and out, and a real contrast to the slightly corporate O2 and surrounding area. Inside, it's airy and innovatively designed to make the most of the space; lucky students!

Our open plan, state-of-the-art building was made for collaboration and creative working - winning the prestigious RIBA award for most innovative Higher education building in London in 2011.
The campus, designed by the internationally acclaimed Farshid Moussavi (previous co-founder of the London-based Foreign Office Architects), can boast:
- a variety of work spaces, including social and quiet areas, high-tech creative suites, technology hubs, design studios and more
- free wi-fi access throughout
- a £16m industry-standard high-definition digital broadcast facility
- two floors of the latest technology for 2D and 3D printing
- research and development space, housing 100 SME businesses
- green technologies throughout, including environmentally friendly construction materials, a green roof, solar hot water and a biomass boiler
- a cafe, as well as access to a wealth of restaurants, bars and cafes in the surrounding area and the neighbouring O2.
Choosing to study at FE or degree level can be daunting as well as very exciting. And as you embark on this new part of your life we recognise that you may face new challenges. So, whatever support you might need, we have experienced and professional staff who can offer support, advice and mentoring, to keep you motivated and on-track with your learning.
We aim to ensure that any disability is not a barrier to the selection of students. All discussions are entirely separate from the academic decision or the offer of a place.
For Further Education learners, support funds are available for those facing significant financial barriers. These bursaries are income-assessed and students will be required to complete an application form and provide supporting documentation in order to be considered. Bursaries are paid on a termly basis, once attendance on course has been confirmed.
FE bursaries are designed primarily to help towards specific, course-related costs such as equipment and/or travel. As funding is limited, we would advise students wishing to apply to ensure they have an alternative main source of income and consider carefully the costs of studying prior to joining Ravensbourne.
With all Ravensbourne Further Education bursaries, the application process will open at the beginning of July. All students who have been offered a place will be able to download the relevant application pack from our website, with instructions about eligibility. The deadline for returning completed applications will be at the beginning of August to ensure we are able to process and send notifications before the start of the academic year.
We would ordinarily only be able to provide additional support to students from households in receipt of benefits such as Income Support, Universal Credit, Tax Credits or Jobseekers Allowance.
