Welcome to Welling School Specialist Art College

Welling School, located in the Borough of Bexley, is an 11-18, mixed Academy with a Visual Arts Specialism. The school was completely redesigned and rebuilt in 2005 and became an Academy in 2011. In 2010 Welling School was in the top 100 most improved schools in the country.

Our excellent facilities include: specialist classrooms; sports hall; all-weather sports pitch; dance studio, drama studios; art gallery; library and a designated Sixth Form common room, complete with Apple Mac computers and café. It provides students and the wider community with the best possible environment for learning in the 21st century. We have recently completed an extensive ICT investment programme, including 650 new computers. Every classroom is fitted with interactive whiteboards which enable teachers and students to access a wide range of stimulating learning materials.

At Welling School we passionately believe that every child does matter and that they deserve to enjoy their learning experience with us. Our dedicated body of staff place students’ interests at the heart of everything they do, ensuring that students have high aspirations and are able to reach their full potential. Our mission is to achieve high standards and fulfil the expectations of all students of all abilities and from all backgrounds by making teaching and learning our focus.

We recognize that if a child is to accomplish those ambitions and improve their life chances it is essential that we work in partnership with parents and carers. We have high expectations for all of our students, many of whom choose to continue their studies in our very successful and popular Sixth Form.

Through a combination of our innovative curriculum, stimulating learning experiences and a safe learning environment we aim to provide students with the qualifications, skills and values they need to be happy, independent learners who will be able to enjoy their lives now and in the future.

Welling School is in consortium with Erith School and Trinity School. Whilst many students will choose courses delivered exclusively in their ‘home’ school, others are able to take one or more subjects delivered at another Partnership Sixth school, especially as some specialist subjects are delivered on one site only. Minibuses will transport you, free of charge, to your lessons and coordination of the school day means you will not miss any teaching time.
