Welcome to Bullers Wood School
Bullers Wood is a highly successful comprehensive 11 – 19 girls’ school with boys admitted to the sixth form. We are a significantly oversubscribed, high-achieving school with High Performing Specialist School status (HPSS) and three specialisms – Language College, Vocational and Raising Achievement Transforming Learning (RATL). In addition, Bullers Wood holds various awards such as Artsmark Gold, Sportsmark and the Schools' Curriculum Award, and was awarded Beacon School status in 2000.
The school was fully inspected by Ofsted in May 2011 and the Sixth Form achieved "outstanding" in every category inspected; some extracts of their comments are as follows "students thoroughly enjoy their studies: curricular provision is outstanding: there is an extensive range of courses on offer including applied as well as the more traditional qualifications: teachers' excellent subject knowledge enhanced students' enjoyment of learning: excellent support and guidance is given to students to help them move on to the next stage of their lives, be it university, employment or training".
We have 1516 students at Bullers Wood School; 426 of these students are in the Sixth Form. Years 7 to 11 are girls; the Sixth form is mixed. Although we are quite large, the progress and wellbeing of every single student is our prime concern and our structure, combined with our parental partnership, ensures that the needs of each individual student can be addressed.
The Sixth Form has its own organisational structure, led by the Director of Sixth Form (an Assistant Headteacher), and supported by a strong management and administrative team.
