Welcome to The CDC

At CDC the classrooms are equipped with desktop computers for each learner and have interactive whiteboards.

Within the building there are learning information posters relating to the subjects taught and the key areas of Equality and Diversity, E Safety, healthy living and Safeguarding and Prevent.

Learners benefit from a conference area with for presentations, award ceremonies etc, based at Manor Lane, 1 mile from the city centre, a 15 minute walk from the train station and serviced every 5 minutes by a tram stop. The Centre has 3 classrooms for delivery of various apprenticeships within specific sectors alongside 5 specialist construction workshops, 1 each for Maintenance, Carpentry and Joinery, Painting and Decorating, Roofing and Bricklaying.

The workshops are equipped to standards as set out by our awarding body for these qualifications, Construction Industry Training Board, comprising generously sized bays with the tools and machinery required to keep learners up to date with the latest industry standard equipment and techniques. Our June 2017 OFSTED inspection stated “Apprentices benefit from good off-the-job training. For example, carpentry apprentices attend the very well-equipped construction training centre one day a week and receive detailed demonstrations on relevant technical work skills, such as measuring, marking and cutting joints.
