Welcome to Meopham School
Meopham School is a small rural school with a strong family ethos. We place a strong emphasis on securing academic excellence. In our Sixth Form we aim to develop the skills and attributes that students need to succeed in further study and employment. We have invested in a new Sixth Form Learning Centre with excellent IT resources which offers students a professional environment in which to develop their independent study skills. We have a broad and balanced course offer which includes a wide range of both academic and vocational subjects. In response to student demand, we have recently extended this offer to include subjects such as Psychology, Film and Music.
Within the Sixth Form there are numerous schemes for pupils to engage with that will help to develop the skills and work ethic sought after by employers. In addition pupils will undertake a one week work experience placement in Year 12 within an industry of their choice. We understand how difficult it can be to gain employment or a higher apprenticeship so we have worked hard to build positive working relationships with local employers and apprenticeship companies. This is to ensure our pupils are given the very best chance to follow their chosen career path.
We firmly believe that both support and challenge are essential in ensuring that students achieve their academic potential. Entry to the Sixth Form is via a rigorous interview process so that students are matched to the courses in which they can thrive and that will support their future progression. Our Head of Sixth Form, Jenny Vik, and her team encourage Sixth Form students to develop the wider skills that are essential for future success in both employment and life itself. Our Sixth Form students are actively encouraged to develop their leadership skills by taking on additional responsibility in our school community. They are respected role models for our younger students in everything that they do. Whether you are already very familiar with our school as one of our Year 11 pupils, or currently attend another school, I very much look forward to welcoming you to find out more about the Sixth Form at Meopham School. I am confident that we will have much to offer you.
Meopham School is an 11 - 18, co-educational Foundation High School situated on a large, open, community campus in a rural position within North West Kent. We share our site with a Medical Centre, Day Nursery, Public Library, and Leisure Centre, giving the school the characteristics of an Extended School. The student population is a good mix of people from the nearby and more outlying areas, of varied social statuses and all abilities, making Meopham School as nearly comprehensive as is possible in an area within the Kent Scheme for selection. With over 26 acres of land, the school is viewed as a natural centre for sporting activities.
