Welcome to Northfleet School for Girls

Northfleet School for Girls is a high school of around 1000 students who regularly attain high standards at GCSE and who work in an atmosphere of calm and mature behaviour enabling all to learn. We have a strong Post 16 of over 200 students. Our motto is 'Always Learning, Learning Always' and this underpins our caring ethos in which the Post 16 caters for students of all abilities.

Our Post 16 students are happy, friendly and ambitious, good team members and involved fully in the life of the school. Many students leaving us choose University and we are proud of their achievements, with many graduating in Law; Chemistry; Psychology; Media and English, to name just a few. We are equally proud of our students who go on to Key Training and enjoy training and jobs in the local community, caring for the elderly or the young. We believe in preparing students for their chosen path and offering them a variety of courses to lead each individual to progress to their full potential.

As a specialist Business and Enterprise school we have numerous links with business. Our work experience programmes and business links support Post 16 students in a wide variety of ways. Northfleet School for Girls welcomes male, female and mature students into the Post 16, offering equality of opportunity to all.

Students with 5A*-Cs at GCSE (including English Language) are admitted to Level 3 courses (e.g. A Levels) in both traditional academic subjects and a number of vocational courses. Students who do not achieve the grades to enter Level 3 courses are also well catered for. We offer a Level 1 and 2 programme which helps students gain employability skills alongside increasing their attainment at GCSE Level. Students also retake GCSE Maths and English if they did not achieve a grade C or higher in Year 11.

All students follow a personal Enrichment programme.  The Enrichment programme provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to study, live, work and ultimately apply to University if that is the direction they are aiming for.

Students admitted to the Post 16 join one of our six Communities. Within this community the Post 16 are guided by a specialist Post 16 tutor who they see every week for scheduled tutor time and who is responsible for their welfare throughout their time here. They offer invaluable guidance and help in target setting; study skills and university/job applications - as well as many other areas. Further support is also available through an extensive system of reporting and referral by subject staff, a full time mentor and coordinator, access to Additional Needs support for statemented pupils and also the Learning Domain. There is also continuous guidance and support from our Key Stage 5 Leader.

The school buildings are fully accessible for those with physical disabilities. Students organise many social activities, like ice skating and fashion shows, as well as running lunch time activities and mentoring for younger students. We have a Head Girl/Boy team who organise fund-raising activities and take part in whole school events, such as Open Evenings. They also organise the ever popular end of year Graduation Ball for Year 13 students leaving for new pastures! There is also a Post 16 school council for those who wish to volunteer and make a difference to their education. Ideas and suggestions are always welcomed.

All applications will require a supporting reference (requested by us) from the applicant’s current school detailing their suitability for the course they have applied for.  After references have been received, successful applicant will be invited to the July Induction and an interview after receiving their results in August.

Applications are accepted on line only, except for students not living in Kent or Medway. Applications are accepted after the Post 16 Evening in November but will not be processed until the final timetable blocks have been confirmed.

If you enjoy being challenged and supported to achieve your best in an environment where you matter as an individual and your personal achievements are recognised then come and join the Post 16 at NSFG!  We look forward to welcoming you.
