An Exceptional Learning Experience
At Oakwood Park Grammar School our aim is to ensure that each student reaches their full academic potential, something that we encourage and develop not only through the learning experience in the classroom but also through subject specific enrichment opportunities and a well-established Gifted and Talented programme. We offer A levels in a wide range of subjects; we also offer the Cambridge Pre-U qualification in Philosophy and Ethics, English Literature and Economics. In addition all students have the opportunity to undertake a supervised Extended Project Qualification.
Integral to our philosophy is the recognition that students are young adults, however, we acknowledge that the transition between GCSE and post 16 studies can be a challenging one, and therefore we offer a focussed induction programme and an effective mentoring and academic monitoring programme. In order to ensure that students are prepared for their next big transition; from a life at school and home, to a life away from home at university, we have our own Information Advice and Guidance service which provides one to one support on everything from subject combinations to student finance.
Most importantly however, we have a sixth form built on an ethos of opportunity; students can excel academically whilst having the opportunity to contribute to the school and wider community through the House and Prefect system as well as voluntary work.
A Level results in 2017 were excellent with a third of all students achieving A*/A grades. Pre U results were outstanding again as were results in the Extended Project with 90% A*-B grades.
Over Half of students achieved a place at a top university including Cambridge, Russell Group and other top research universities.
OPGS Sixth Form students have access to a silent study area and IT suites. In addition students can work together on group tasks, or take a break from work in the Sixth Form communal area
