Welcome to The Skinners' Kent Academy
WELCOME TO THE SKINNERS' KENT ACADEMY
We are part of the Skinners family of schools and provide an all ability non-fee paying independent education in stunning £21.4 million facilities based on a culture of high standards and aspirations, active participation and an emotionally rich learning environment. In our sixth form students have the opportunity to study the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme, a flexible, progressive and challenging programme that looks to address the needs of students engaged in career-related studies.
Although not specifically about the sixth form the film above gives you an idea of the facilities at The Skinners’ Kent Academy. It is an independent non fee-paying school funded by the Department for Education and supported fully by its lead sponsor The Skinners’ School, a grammar school for boys and the Skinners’ Company, and its co-sponsors West Kent College and Kent County Council.
Staff and students moved into a brand new £21.4 million facilities in 2013. The state-of-the-art building, which is inspired by the Guggenheim Museum in New York, is 10,000m2 and has a range of facilities including: 7 science labs, a lecture theatre with 3D capabilities, radio station, multio-media edit suite and drama studio. Wifi throughout the buidling enables students to use mobile devices, such as iPads to further their learning. Within the grounds there are outdoor learning areas, a floodlit 88x61m all-weather pitch and a multi-use games area with three floodlit netball courts and 5 tennis courts.
