“Heathfield Sixth Form is an experience I have thoroughly enjoyed. As a student, you gain more freedom and independence. The trips provided are exciting….I would recommend Heathfield, for its friendly atmosphere and excellent teaching.” (Liam, Year 13)
Heathfield Sixth Form has an established reputation for excellent results which have placed it consistently in the top 25% of colleges nationally for the last 3 years, enabling students to make a successful transition into higher education or employment.
Heathfield is an extremely innovative and forward thinking college which is constantly striving to improve all aspects of its practice and frequently we ask students for their opinions to help shape our future plans. In fact, we place great emphasis on the importance of ‘Student Leadership’, in particular, encouraging young people to take greater responsibility for their own learning. With a large Sixth Form we are fortunate to be able to offer a wide range of exciting courses. In addition, we encourage students to take advantage of extra curricula opportunities which are vital in developing self-confidence, leaderships skills and self-esteem. They also help prepare young people for the world of work and life in general.
Facilities are excellent from the recently refurbished Learning Resouce Centre which acts as a Sixth Form study area, a well stocked Library, Cafe 6 for a range of hot and cold refreshments and meals and their own Common Room where students can meet with friends, enjoy a coffee while discussing work or just relax.
Transport from Battle, Hastings, Robertsbridge and Surrounding Areas
If you are not able to attend the sixth form due to a lack of public transport but are still interested in attending Heathfield Sixth Form, then we will be able to offer a transport service that can pick up and drop off from locations in and around the Battle area. This year we have three routes which pick students up from the following areas: Broad Oak/Brede, Cripps Corner, Staplehurst, Bodiam, Mountfield, Robertsbridge, Battle and St Leonards. We will determine bus routes for next year on the basis of those individuals who express an interest from January 2016. The cost of transport for this academic year is £850, spread over 5 termly payments of £170.
We have a strong tradition of providing high quality support enabling students to reach their full potential with two dedicated Pastoral Managers, a 6th Form Counsellor and a Careers Advisor. Great importance is attached to the relationship that the students share with their teachers and their Sixth Form coaches; coaches monitor progress, oversee students personal development and prepare them for the next stage of their lives, whether it is university, college or the workplace.
Our Sixth Formers enjoy their new status as young adults studying in a supportive and friendly environment with more freedom than they might have experienced in school, enabling them to mature intellectually, personally and socially, developing self reliance and a sense of responsibility.
In the summer of 2015 once again there were excellent A Level results at Heathfield Community College, with 45% at the gold standard of A* to B and 77% A* to C. At this stage our provisional results also show the pass rate of 100% at A* to E. We are confident that these performances will once again put us in the top 25% of schools and colleges across the country for adding value to expected grades for students. This continues the trend of recent years placing the college in the top 25% of schools nationally, continuing a tradition of excellence at the college. We would also like to recognise the efforts of our AS Level students who achieved excellent results with a value added measure that will place these achievements in the top 5% of the country, showing that student performance at Heathfield continues to go from strength to strength.
