Welcome to Stanford & Corringham Sixth Form Centre
There are a wide range of choices at 16+ for young people and we are committed to expanding the choice available to young people by providing them with the opportunity to continue their education at their 11-16 school.
Gable Hall, Hassenbrook and St Clere’s are all working in partnership to create the Stanford & Corringham Sixth Form Centre. The partnership already has a proven track record of excellent academic success and pastoral care. This is a firm foundation for the successful education of our students.
Our first intake of students began their courses in September 2009 and by working together we are able to provide the students with a wider choice of subjects and a comprehensive programme of enrichment activities. We are all committed to providing a well-ordered environment where students feel valued and supported to achieve their full potential.
This Programmes of Study booklet sets out the programmes of study on offer and how we will operate. This is an exciting opportunity which we hope you will take advantage of.

Why choose Stanford & Corringham Sixth Form Centre?
Knowing Me, Knowing You
The majority of you will already have spent five years at one of the three schools involved in the partnership:- this means that you know us and we know you. You know where to find your teaching staff, if you need help and you know that they will be there all day. In addition, having already spent five years teaching you, we know how to get the best out of you.
Because we care!
After having invested five years in you, we want you to do the very best that you can in Further Education and we know that issues will still arise where you will need advice and support. The care and support system that you have experienced from years 7 to 11 is still there in the Sixth Form and we will endeavour to help you with any issues that may arise over your time with us.
Never Fear Stanford & Corringham is here!
It can often be nerve-wracking starting somewhere new, finding your way around and knowing who to ask if you need help. One of the advantages of being a student at the Stanford & Corringham Sixth Form Centre is that you don’t have to worry about that as you already know where you’re going. You will also be introduced to the other schools in the partnership during our induction programme.
Small is beautiful
The Stanford & Corringham Sixth Form Centre generally has small class sizes, unlike some colleges where you may be in a class of thirty. The advantage of being small is that you will gain much more individual attention and help from your subject teacher and they will have a far greater knowledge of your strengths and weaknesses than if you were in a much larger class.
Money, Money, Money!
The Sixth Form Governors have made available bursaries for students from the three partnership schools. Students can apply for a bursary once they have received their examination results and if successful they could receive up to £300 in their first year at the Stanford & Corringham Sixth Form Centre to assist them with their studies.
Gable Hall School
In October 2012 Gable Hall School opened a purpose built Sixth Form and Skills Centre which includes a suite of Sixth Form classrooms including IT facilities, a study space and canteen.
In september 2010 Hassenbrook Academy opened a brand new building onsite which encompasses a purpose built area specifically for Sixth Form teaching.
St Clere's School
As well as a study area there is also a brand new Drama Studio onsite.
After having invested five years in you, we want you to do the very best that you can in Further Education. Your success is important to us and we will endeavour to help, advise and support you whilst you are at Sixth Form.
You will be assigned a personal mentor who you will meet with on a regular basis to discuss your progress and assist with any issues/concerns you may have. Your mentor is there as a 'critical friend' and will help support you during your time at the Sixth Form.
Jonathan Black - Thurrock Careers Personal Advisor is available to help you with your choice of course or career post Sixth Form. He can help you decide on your next step onto further study, training or employment. At the Sixth Form you will also have access to prospectuses and career opportunities, such as a visit to the Essex Higher Education Convention.
The Sixth Form Governors have made available bursaries for students from the three partnership schools. Students can apply for a bursary once they have received their GCSE examination results and if successful they could receive up to £300.00 in their first year to assist them with their studies.
