Our motto is "Achievement has no boundaries" and all our pupils and staff work together to make this happen.
Our role in our local community is very important to us. We want all pupils to be given the opportunity to fulfil their potential as valued members of their community.
We aim as a school to be a resource to support and work with our local community.
Beacon Hill Academy caters for pupils aged 2 -19 who have severe and complex learning difficulties
The new purpose built Post 16 building is separate from the main school.
It has its own kitchen, with height adjustable worktops and cupboards.
A sensory room with all the latest sensory equipment.
An ICT suite with an interactive Smartboard and switch access.
Fully adapted toilet and shower areas, including ceiling track hoisting system.
Many of our pupils at Beacon Hill have additional complex health needs that require extra support.
Our school nurse works closely with families to draw up care plans and trains our staff to support needs such as gastrostomy feeding, use of oxygen, administering epilepsy medication and using suction.
We have a full time speech and language therapist who supports feeding programmes as well as communication issues.
We have a team of trained risk assessors in school who make sure that all our manual handling procedures work well and enable our pupils to gain maximum independence.
All students leave with a certificate sized qualification in Personal Progress from the Asdan awarding body. The content for this has been selected from modules chosen to match their learning goals and future destination route
