Welcome to Ark 6th Form East Sussex

Welcome

At Ark 6th Form East Sussex we focus on developing an academically accomplished, well rounded individual, capable of competing effectively in the modern labour market.

Our 16-19 study programme incorporates a number of facets that focus on ensuring that every student develops essential transferable skills.

There are two typical study programmes that our students can follow at Ark 6th Form East Sussex:

Academic pathway

• An academic curriculum that enables progression into Higher Education

• This can either be a full A-Level pathway or a mixture of BTEC Level 3    qualifications and A-Levels

• The opportunity to pursue an enrichment activity that can range from a sporting passion to an artistic interest

• Structured tutorial focused on developing the skills required by Higher Education institutions

• Specialist Careers Advice and Guidance from expert practitioners

• Regular opportunities to engage with a wide variety of external stakeholders from the world of academe, business and politics

• Opportunities to hear from and network with Alumni of the 6th Form who progressed to develop successful careers of their own

Vocational Pathway

From the academic year of 2017/18, Ark 6th Form will be working with a number of local and national businesses to provide our students with high quality vocational pathways.

With an increasing number of students opting to consider other alternatives to University post 18, we have decided to develop a high quality school leaver programme. This initiative provides students with the opportunity to study towards level 3 and 4 apprenticeships with our partner businesses.

The main elements of the vocational pathway include:

• A BTEC curriculum equivalent to three A-Levels (Business Studies/Physical Education)

• A curriculum that links with our partner firms

• The opportunity to pursue an enrichment interest that can range from a sporting passion to an artistic interest

• Structured tutorial focused on developing the skills required by employers

• Specialist Careers Advice and Guidance from expert practitioners

• Regular opportunities to engage with a wide variety of external stakeholders from the world of academe, business and politics

• Opportunities to hear from and network with Alumnus of the 6th Form who have progressed to develop successful careers of their own

We feel that this differentiated, well rounded post-16 curriculum provides every student with the potential to succeed in a career of their choice.

I look forward to welcoming you to Ark 6th form East Sussex.
