Welcome to Hayesfield Girls' School and Mixed Sixth Form

Hayesfield is a thriving, vibrant state school in which girls feel safe, valued and happy. We have a strong belief in traditional values; we set high standards in our work, conduct and appearance. We also place emphasis on developing the skills and values that will enable our students to become thinking, informed and confident adults who will be able to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.

At Hayesfield we consistently strive to make progress and this is reflected in examination results at GCSE and A Level where the already high standards continue to improve. This success is attributed to our focus on the quality of learning and, therefore, our students benefit from being educated by a highly talented, reflective, dedicated and caring team of professionals.

Girls flourish in a single-sex learning environment. Alongside our high academic aspirations we believe in enabling our students to develop into well-rounded and independent learners, encouraging them to take on leadership roles across the school and participate in our superb range of extracurricular activities, clubs and societies. These are designed to build on their existing talents and support them in taking the risk to explore new interests.

Hayesfield provides the freedom from stereotyping that allows girls to have limitless aspirations for themselves and acquire the skills and confidence needed to be tomorrow’s leaders. Without doubt, being a student at Hayesfield Girls’ School is demanding and challenging. Ultimately though, our girls find it a truly enjoyable, rewarding and stimulating experience.

About us

We are excited to welcome you to our Sixth Form

We are a forward-thinking and vibrant institution who set high standards and support all of our students in achieving their ambitions. We’re thrilled to have the privilege of working with such a strong and committed body of staff and students to make our Sixth Form one that cares about all of its students as individuals, but also expects them to achieve their very best and participate in the huge range of new opportunities that we offer as a community and with younger students in the school.

We have the finest facilities in the city with purpose built Science laboratories, a design studio and lecture theatre. Above all we have a brand new Sixth Form Centre, the ‘East Wing’, where students have access to purpose built study areas, the learning centre, common room and wireless laptop network.

Hayesfield has a superb track record of success academically and continues to build on this to provide the best Sixth Form experience in the local area.

Additional support

Hayesfield offers an outstanding tutorial support programme for all of its students. Students are assigned a personal tutor who they will see every morning. In that time students will learn about current affairs, personal and health issues, and plans for university and employment. They will also set personal academic targets for improvement and review these with their tutor 1:1. Knowing the tutor well is invaluable when applying to university or for employment as they will be able to write a detailed and effective reference of support.

At Hayesfield, a real strength of our Sixth Form is our understanding of the support students need to make the transition from pupil to student. A day of induction after GCSE examinations, summer school opportunities and a series of 1:1 mentoring sessions, ensure that every student creates a study programme that perfectly matches their attributes and ambitions.

Learner success

We’re very proud of the fantastic achievements of many of our former students. Many come back and work with us to support current students.
