Welcome to The Kings of Wessex Academy

The Kings of Wessex Academy is an outstanding, largely rural comprehensive 13-18 school with a large sixth form that serves the Cheddar Valley and surrounding villages. Most of our students continue into the sixth form from our own year 11 cohort although every year we welcome a number of new students from other local schools who choose to continue their education with us. We offer post-16 courses in a wide range of AS and A levels and alongside our Level 3 BTEC in Performing Arts, we are looking to expand our vocational curriculum by offering a Level 3 BTEC course in Sport. Our students' results are consistently excellent and the published performance tables confirm our place as one of the very best sixth forms in the South West. The large majority of our year 13 leavers secure places at university with 47% in 2013 progressing to Russell Group institutions and 4 students taking up Oxbridge places. Alongside our academic programme, we offer a broad range of enrichment activities to encourage students to participate in the life of the school and their local community and to help students prepare for the challenges of life beyond A levels.
