Welcome to Devonport High School for Girls

I consider myself very lucky to be the Head Teacher at Devonport High School for Girls. The students here are filled with enthusiasm and passion for learning; they display a caring attitude towards each other and a determination to achieve.

I believe the key to our success is our ability to inspire young minds by providing an exciting, challenging and supportive educational environment, which offers innovative teaching methods and encourages creativity. We provide a wide range of exciting extra-curricular and enriching learning opportunities, which means that we can develop the skills, talents and potential of the whole person.

The commitment of our teaching staff, support staff and governors drives our continued progress.

Our purpose is to make sure that our students leave our school as happy, active, independent learners, who are enterprising, articulate, confident young people, whose achievements, both in and outside school, are recognized and valued.

DHSG is a Specialist Languages College and Leading Edge School which was founded in 1908. We are proud of our history, but our main focus is looking to the future. In our aim of providing the best educational opportunities today, we believe that our students leave us equipped to go out into the world of the 21st Century ready to make a difference.

Choosing the right school for your daughter is a difficult yet crucial decision and I would encourage you to come and see for yourselves just what we have to offer. I look forward to meeting you and your daughter, and working closely with you in the future.
