Welcome to Alton College
We're known for having a friendly atmosphere at our Sixth Form and for the support we offer. We've a great range of courses too, with many different subjects. Whatever you're hoping to do, go to university, start a worthwhile career, get a rewarding job - we're sure you'll find something to suit you here.
People often say Alton College is more like a university campus. It's modern, bright, cheerful and packed with state-of-the-art equipment! We've got some of the best buildings and facilities of any college in the country, making it easier for you to enjoy learning. But don't just take our word for it... see some of the facilities that our students rave about for yourself.
To make things as convenient as possible and provide all the help and advice you need under one roof, we have a dedicated student centre called the Student Hub. Located centrally in the College, the Student Hub is the place to go for your general student enquiries, admissions and your interviews. From the moment you start in September, it’s the central point for all information, advice, support and guidance. The Student Hub is always open and we are there to help you at any time.
Students are expected to buy the essential text books required for their courses. A list of texts will have been sent to all new students and are posted on the website prior to starting at College.
The College Library and departmental resource areas contain a good range of useful texts that are available for students to use. However, students may be asked to purchase supplementary texts themselves. A student facing financial hardship may apply for support through 'The Alton College Fund' to assist with the cost of text books.
The costs of trips, including field trips regarded as essential to the successful completion of the course, are paid by the student. Again, students in need may apply to 'The Alton College Fund' for support.
Students are expected to purchase stationery and computer disks/storage devices. Where specialist stationery is fundamental to the work of a subject (e.g. Art, Photography, Design Technology), the College will provide a basic supply but the student may need to maintain.
The performance of A level students was again excellent. The high quality of our teaching, learning and support enables all of our A level students to achieve well and move onto University courses and employment.
Alton continues its long standing record of excellence in top grade achievement and strong performance. Of the students who achieved, nearly 77% did so with the highest grades and our overall pass rate was again above national average.
