Welcome to Hornsea School and Language College

Here at Hornsea Sixth Form, we are an inclusive and expanding college where we welcome students from all backgrounds and of all ability levels. Once here, you will find a safe, friendly and supportive atmosphere in which both staff and students work together. Expectations are high but support is always on hand. This prospectus aims to give you a taste of what we offer and how we can tailor our package to suit each student.

I hope to see you at our open evening and other events and look forward to welcoming our new students in September. If we can be of any assistance over the course of the next few months, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Mr Brocklehurst
Director of Hornsea Sixth Form

Facilities available

We are based in a purpose-built Sixth Form centre which includes a modern café and social area and a spacious study room with excellent ICT facilities. The Sixth Form centre is open to students from 8am to 6pm during term time and free wi-fi is available across the site. 2015 saw the opening of our state-of-the-art 3G pitch, situated outside the Sixth Form. The 3G pitch compliments our sports qualifications and enrichment courses and is home to our football team.

The facilities committee work with staff and students to implement improvements and new equipment within the Sixth Form. They have installed a music system in the common room, arranged for new, soft seating and created a student meeting space in the study area.

Additional support

The bursary fund exists to help students complete their course where they would otherwise be prohibited from doing so on financial grounds. The bursary is intended to help with essential costs related to the course such as books, equipment, travel and visits. Eligible students who meet the criteria, receive a monthly payment based upon their attendance.

The Sixth Form team are here to help you achieve your potential at Hornsea. They offer support and advice to guide through your post-16 education and get the most out of your time with us. The team is based in the Sixth Form Centre, you can contact them by email or drop in and see them.
