Welcome to St Vincent College

Welcome to St Vincent Sixth Form College and thank you for considering us for your sixth form education.

The St Vincent Sixth Form College campus is an historic and beautiful site on the Gosport waterfront; it's a great place to learn. We have recently completed a £5 million programme of campus enabling us to provide state-of-ste-art and spacious study and support facilities.

According to our recent Ofsted report, 'students thrive at college; they feel safe and respected and are expected to achieve highly'. We are proud of the quality of teaching here and this is confined by our recent improvements in results.

Like all sixth form colleges, most of our students study A Levels and other advanced level course, and we also offer a range of qualifications for students needing a further year of study before embarking on a traditional sixth form programme.

As a relatively small college we pride ourselves on being able to offer individualised combinations of courses, often by combinding A Levels with BTEC advanced level vocational units. This has proved very successful in helping students achieve well and progress to university. We have outstanding careers provision with our own in-house team who can help you when making your decisions onyour course options, as well as being there to advise you throughout your time at college.

St Vincent is a college which values hard work and high achievement. Our students learn in a harmonious and mutually respectful environment and they are increasingly articulate and confident. We challenge all our students to aim high and stretch themselves academically and we also offer extensive additional opportunities, through a wide ranging extra curriculum programme and a huge variety of trips and visits.

Do come to one of our Open Evenings. You will then see for yourself that we are a friendly, welcoming and aspirational college and we will be ableo to give you advice on putting together a study programme that will help you achieve your aims.

Additional support

The college continues to develop its ethos of inclusiveness and also to comply with all the legislation regarding disability and discrimina

We aim not only to meet the needs of individuals, but also to anticipate those needs. These aims are adhered to throughout all aspects of college life from enquiry to admission and enrolment and finally to moving on from college.

At St Vincent we want all our students to enjoy their courses and succeed to the very best of their ability. We aim to create an atmosphere where you feel comfortable to ask for any help you may need. One of the keys to success is knowing how well you are doing at different stages in your course and setting targets with your teachers.

At the heart of all the support we offer you at college are the Student Support Team, in our brand new Learning Resource and Student Support Centre. The role of the team is to guide you and keep an eye on your welfare. They will be able to see you about any matters of concern and will also pass on useful information about college events and activities. The team is there to assist you with anything you may wish to discuss or need support with during your studies.

During the year the Student Support Team will be running several events, activities and themed weeks linked to your Tutorial programme. This will provide students with the chance to find out about a range of services, cultures and opportunities available to them and forms part of our work to prepare students to take an active role in society.
