Welcome to Harton Technology College
Harton Sixth Form is establishing itself as a high quality provider for 6th form education. The fabulous new state of the art building provides a great environment for students to make the transition to a business like work space and it has been designed to include a range of resources, study work and progressions spaces.
We have very high expectations and believe we can offer students an excellent package that allows students the choice of a wide range of courses in a very personal and supportive environment. Our class sizes are kept small and this allows students the support that will allow them to develop the necessary skills in order to fulfil their potential. There is a friendly community atmosphere within the sixth form and relationships between staff and students are very positive and productive.
We very much see ourselves as an important stepping stone allowing young people to move on to great things in the future. Therefore, we work with students to ensure that they are placed on an appropriate programme of study that suits their strengths and allows students to fulfil their ambitions. We work hard to then ensure that students have the necessary care, guidance and support to give them the best possible start in whatever they decide to do in the future.
Students are challenged in all aspects of developing as young adults so they can be successful in the future. Opportunities are provided and students are encouraged to expand their social, recreational, sporting and cultural interests. We offer extensive enrichment opportunities in order to allow young people to develop new skills, meet new people and broaden their horizons. We also work closely with local agencies and organisations in trying to allow students to gain relevant work experience so that they have the edge when it comes to applications to either Higher Education or employment.
A large number of students will continue in to higher education and students are guided and supported through this increasingly challenging and demanding process. We are building a strong reputation as an institution that combines academic success with personal development in a positive and supportive environment.
It is the students and staff that make our Sixth Form so special and if you decide to apply I hope you will make us even stronger.
Harton 6th Form allows students to make that challenging transition to level three study in a modern business like environment and supports and promotes independence so that students can develop and flourish in all aspects of life. The ethos is purposeful and everyone is expected to work hard. Harton students will be joined by a significant number of students from other centres and this creates a vibrant and energetic environment where students feel valued and respected. The times of the day will be slightly different to the day of the rest of the school. You will come into school in time for lessons, and your day will normally commence at 8.30am and will reflect your personal programme of study.
Depending upon the courses that you choose to follow, you may be spending most of your time in school or you may spend some time at a partner organisation. You are however, always representing Harton 6th Form and no matter where you are, the standards of behaviour and decorum that we expect in school must be maintained.
You will be treated as young adults in the Centre – as students not as pupils. Life at Harton will be purposeful and productive, but fun and engaging. You will certainly get out of it what you put into it!
The Sixth Form Centre is a state of the art building, developed to enable first class education to take place in a purpose built environment. There are a number of general classrooms, some subject specific areas, a learning resource centre, a lecture theatre, an internet café, an area devoted to careers/progression, a media suite, views over the school’s playing field and 3G rugby and multi-use pitch and a café area that is exclusively used by Sixth Form students.
Students will be able to access The Wellness Sports Centre which is fitted with the best equipment available to the market, with a comprehensive and customer focused service plan and a team of qualified, dedicated, knowledgeable and motivated staff. It has a 49 station state-of-the-art Technogym Excite gym, complete with full Wellness System and integrated Entertainment, to ensure you achieve all your health and fitness related goals.
Harton 6th form students have access to purchasing a wide variety of food / refreshments throughout the day and eat in the modern dining area.
Progression and planning for the future are at the heart of everything we do at Harton 6th Form. At the centre of the 6th Form building is a designated progression area where there is access to a wide range of resources including up to date prospectuses and current apprenticeship vacancy lists. Our progression manager Matt Joyce is also available to offer information, advice and guidance on all the opportunities that are available locally, regionally, nationally and across the world.
All students will have full ICT access and WiFi will be available throughout the building. Of course, the achievement of top grade qualifications is the driving factor of your time at Harton Sixth Form Centre and the design of the Learning Resource Centre and the communal space within the Centre has been planned to give you space to work independently or in small groups.
Opening times will be negotiated with the Student Management Group for different times of the year. Later opening times will be available leading up examination periods.

In an increasingly competitive employment and Higher Education market it is vital that students have the necessary skills and qualities to be successful.
We work closely with local businesses, universities, colleges and training providers to ensure that students receive relevant and realistic advice about the skills and qualifications required in the future.
