Welcome to Ashfield School

We are delighted that you are considering Ashfield Post 16 as a venue in which to continue your education. Ashfield is a large and diverse Post 16 with an intake from many different secondary schools. We deliver a wide range of academic and vocational courses at Levels 1, 2 and 3 and attempt to cater for all students in the local area.

The inclusive nature of Ashfield Post 16 is something that we are very proud of. In addition to a wide curriculum, there is a very strong pastoral system in place. A team of Tutors and Heads of Year will ensure that you succeed with your chosen courses and also help you to develop your personal, social and employability skills. Our aim is to develop you as a fully rounded individual, preparing you to move onto the next phase in your life, be that university, apprenticeship or employment.

Life in Post 16 is unique. It forms a bridge between compulsory schooling and higher education or employment. You will be given greater freedoms than in Years 7-11 but you must also accept greater responsibility. You are expected to work with a higher degree of maturity and take a fuller responsibility for your own learning. You will have to commit a larger proportion of your free time to study. You will be expected to act as a role model for the younger students in the school and so expectations of attitude and conduct are very high.

Director of Post 16
