Welcome to Vision West Nottinghamshire College

Each year the college provides education and training to some 30000 full and part-time students (26,166 of which are engaged in some form of work place learning) across all major industry sectors and at pre-GCSE to university-level. Over 500 of these students study Higher Education at the Vision University Centre right here on campus.

The college’s £40 million redevelopment has now reached completion, which means new buildings, new facilities and new opportunities. Students learn in state-of-the-art facilities, with industry-standard equipment, allowing them to hone their skills for employment.

And there’s more. We never stop working to improve the quality of our resources, our offer and opportunities, and have a number of ambitious plans in the pipeline, including an £8 million pound university centre in 2015.

At college, we embrace and encourage all those who are driven to better themselves, achieve their goals and reach new heights. Outstanding resources combined with exceptional tutors and student support means that whatever your ambition, we can help you to achieve it.

Learner success

The college has won a host of prestigious awards and accolades in recent years, demonstrating the excellence we provide in all aspects of our business.

We are the only college in Nottinghamshire to have been awarded Beacon status, which came in recognition of our innovation and excellence in teaching and learning.

The college was also proud to gain the highly sought-after Investors in People Gold standard and its associated Health and Wellbeing Good Practice Award – both at the first attempt.

Our information, advice and guidance team scooped the Matrix national quality standard for the advice offered to learners, and we have also been awarded the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents silver award for our commitment to health and safety.

Meanwhile, our multiple award-winning principal and chief executive, Asha Khemka, was recognised for her services to Further Education with an OBE in the 2009 New Year’s Honours List and a DBE in the 2014 Honour’s List – making her the first Indian-born in living memory to receive a Damehood.

Later that year, Dame Asha became the inaugural recipient of the Dadabhai Naoroji Award for Education and just weeks later she was named Woman of the Year at the GG2 Leadership Awards for her outstanding work and commitment to providing a fair education for all.

Our environmental initiatives have earned us a gold award in the Green Impact Students' Union Awards for the second year running and the title of Students’ Union of the Year in the further education category.

And the college’s state-of-the-art Lifestyle Academy building topped the infrastructure category at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) East Midlands Awards 2014 for its contribution to the area.

In 2015 we retained our Healthy FE and Skills status – a national accolade for the work we do to instil healthy living amongst students and staff through a year-round programme of events, activities and campaigns.
