Welcome to The Chase School

I am extremely proud of the Sixth Form at The Chase. Students and staff work together to achieve consistently excellent results and they do so without sacrificing any of the marvellous extra-curricular, charitable and other enrichment programmes that continue to make the Sixth Form such an attractive place in which to learn.

The leadership skills fostered lower down the school bear fruit in the many and varied responsibilities assumed by our Senior Student team. The Head Boy, Head Girl and Deputies, along with a team of volunteer senior prefects, help to maintain our ethos of hard work and caring interdependence. Such is the school’s confidence in its Sixth Form students that some of them sit on interview panels for senior staff appointments, and are involved in aspects of the governing body’s committees.

I do hope that you will decide, if it is right for you, to continue your post-16 study at The Chase. Whether you are one of our Year 11 students, or someone currently at another school or college, you will find that The Chase Sixth Form is a stimulating environment. Please come to see us at our Open Evening on Wednesday 15th January 2014 at 7.00 p.m. You will be able to speak to students and staff about the courses that interest you and to collect departmental leaflets.

The range of courses on offer at AS, A2 and BTEC is extensive, being thirty-four in number. In addition to the traditional array of AS and A2 subjects, a healthy offer at BTEC level 3 is made. The latest additions this year is a BTEC in Creative Media Production and an extension to the popular BTEC Sport course to cater for those students wanting to make this their sole focus. Students may opt for AS/A2 courses, BTEC or a combination of the two, depending on their interests, capabilities and timetabling constraints. The Chase also offers students an excellent enrichment programme beyond the classroom as part of the Electives Programme. Japanese, Latin and Mandarin Chinese are available, along with drama, debating, music, Young Enterprise, Duke of Edinburgh Gold and a massive range of sporting opportunities. There is a thriving Amnesty International and a very active Charity Committee. Foreign travel opportunities are many and varied, as are visits to lectures, theatres, galleries and places of interest. Carol Ann Duffy, the Poet Laureate, has accompanied a cultural trip to Italy for many years.

I hope that you will want to join us in being part of a highly motivated team of students and staff who work together in a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect to make The Chase Sixth Form comprehensively successful in its pursuit of excellence. I look forward to meeting you and working with you in the near future.
