Welcome to Strode College

We are delighted that you are interested in studying at Strode College. We provide outstanding specialist sixth form education and, whether you study A Levels, a vocational course or an Apprenticeship, we will help you to maximise your potential.

Ofsted 'Outstanding' sixth form education

We have a local and national reputation for excellence as one of the very best performing colleges in the country. This was reinforced in September 2014 when Ofsted judged that we are an 'Outstanding' college. Ofsted highlighted the outstanding quality of our teaching, support, advice and guidance and the resulting high levels of student aspirations, progress and achievements.

Outstanding results

In 2015 our students once again achieved outstanding results for both A Levels and vocational courses. Our students' exceptional levels of achievement were recognised by Ofsted in October 2014 and by the government League Tables in January 2016.

Valuing individuals and maximising potential

We value our students as individuals. This is reflected in our approach to teaching and supporting students which was praised as outstanding by Ofsted.

This approach makes a significant difference to our students' success - we help them to achieve higher grades at advanced level than predicted based on their GCSE results. We know this because our record for outstanding student progress is shown in the league tables. For the third year in a row we are ranked in the league tables as the first of second best school or college in Somerset for student progress - this is the best and most consistent sixth form performance over the last three years.

Achieving your ambitions

Whether you want to go to university or into employment, your future prospects will be significantly improved by studying at Strode College. Our students are 16% more likely than the national average to get a place at university, including top universities and specialist courses. Many other students go directly into employment with great prospects.

Widest choice of courses

It is important to choose the course or mix of subjects that suits you and your future ambitions. We deliver the widest choice of A Levels in Somerset as well as outstanding vocational courses and Apprenticeships.

Specialist 16-18 education

We specialise in teaching 16 to 18 year olds. We have highly qualified and experienced teachers and specialist facilities. We deliver a wealth of opportunities to enhance classroom learning and college life.

With best wishes,

James Staniforth
