Welcome to Bryncelynnog Comprehensive School

Bryn Celynnog Comprehensive School is a co-educational secondary school which offers a comprehensive education to students from the ages of 11-18.

The school is funded by Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council, but its management, including finance, is controlled by the Governing Body.

In September 2010 there will be approximately 1110 on roll, with a projected intake of 168 new students in Year 7. In the last academic year, 166 students applied to Bryn Celynnog and all applications were successful. The actual admissions limit is 166.

In 2009-10, the percentage of sessions missed due to unauthorised absence was 2.4%, and the percentage missed due to authorised absence was also 6.4%.

We believe that strong discipline and an insistence on the highest of standards are the necessary foundations of a successful school. We challenge every instance of unacceptable behaviour and actively engage the support of parents in the restorative process if a child is in breach of the school’s code of conduct. We adopt a zero tolerance stance towards any form of bullying.

Sixth Form life is about more than academic study, the Consortium arrangement brings together the best aspects of the two schools and Coleg Morgannwg to offer you the widest choice possible at Post 16 whatever career path you are contemplating.

Returning to continue your education with us lets you take the next step in an environment you are familiar with and which is dedicated to providing the skills and qualifications you will need in the future.
