Welcome to Denefield School

Welcome to Denefield Sixth Form. The Sixth Form is vibrant and fully inclusive, offering a wide range of both traditional and vocational courses at Level 3, enabling students to gain the necessary qualifications to progress to university, further training or the world of work. We welcome applications from current Year 11 students and external candidates who wish to study in a small friendly environment.

The accommodation for Sixth Form has been purpose built to house a common room and specialist workroom for students as well as a Sixth Form office where our Post 16 Student Manager is available all day to support students with their studies.

The appearance of our Sixth Form students is important to us in presenting a professional approach to Key Stage 5 (KS5) and therefore we expect all students to attend in business dress. Students need to consider their appearance and wear clothes that any individual in a professional working environment would wear.

KS5 students are part of the house system and we offer vertical tutoring within the Sixth Form. Year 12 and 13 are combined in tutor groups so that Year 13 students can act as role models sharing their experience with the new Year 12 students. Tutors are static and only work with KS5 in order to support academic progress as well as providing effective information and guidance for their next steps.

It is really important that students wishing to apply for Denefield Sixth Form understand the jump from KS4 to KS5 and appreciate that they will need to develop higher levels of independence. Students need to be able to read around their subjects to expand their knowledge and consolidate their learning. Our 669/999 approach supports students and structures their independent study periods to develop more effective learners.
